Trish has been an entrepreneur, marketer and maker ever since she crushed her first lemonade stand at age five. Growing up in rural Wisconsin, she spent many summers running barefoot with her sisters. These early memories later inspired her to build a brand which embraced the joy and freedom of childhood with the health and science of minimal footwear. Trish relishes evolving the company to grow stronger and more competitive with each passing year. She is a frequent expert panelist for both e-commerce and entrepreneurship conferences. Trish enjoys spending time with her family, dogs and ducks on their property in Oregon and loves the proximity to both surf and snow. She has a background in Engineering Physics and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

  1. 78 and Counting!! Calling All Pancake Owners...

Some of you may be familiar with the Playful Pancake cat toys made by our 7 year old friend Cassidy. She uses Soft Star Shoes leather scraps to craft and sell toys for a charity called Kids for Kids. Each "pancake" purchase is a donation equal to one goat which are given to families in Sudan. 2. Experiment results... Sort of

Well, fall showed up quickly here in Oregon -- it was 85 and sunny one day, two days later it was 65 and rainy. Since cool, rainy weather can last until May I decided I better wrap up the sheepskin fleece experiment for now. A quick recap of the experiment before I get into 'results'... I'm trying to answer the...
  3. Experiment in progress

Our moccasins have sheepskin in them and we always get asked, "Isn't that too hot for summer?" Well, let's find out! Kahlil needed a new pair of moccasins, so I decided to do a little experiment. And then we started thinking, why not share...
  6. Every Shoe Tells a Story

This week the National Geographic magazine published a story by Cathy Newman: "Every Shoe Tells a Story". The article spans the most extreme luxury Manolo Blahnik heels to the most primitive fiber-woven sandals found in Oregon from 8500BC. (It was nice to see that Oregon was always a mecca for shoe-making -- they found hundreds of pairs stacked in the...
  7. Soft Star Soles

You may feel lucky when you put on a pair of comfortable shoes, but the Soft Star crew think comfort is no accident. We have spent years searching for the right soles to go on our shoes and moccasins. We believe soft soles not only feel good, but they are also good for you! Our feet are complex structures, with...
