Correct Toes SPORT were created by foot health expert Dr. Ray McClanahan to encourage correct toe alignment with the natural shape and function of the foot. They are intended to support foot recovery and long-term resilience, especially after wearing narrow, constrictive footwear.

Made from extra soft, flexible silicone, these in-shoe toe spacers are designed for comfort during light activity and post-weight baring activity. If you are looking for toe spacers to wear during weight-bearing activities, we recommend the original Correct Toes.

Each box of Correct Toes contains two toe spacers. Correct Toes toe spacers are best used with wide toe box shoes, including almost all Softstar styles.

  • Gently separates toes to promote natural alignment, recovery, and strength

  • Constructed of high-quality silicone to be flexible, comfortable and durable
  • Comes with a 30-day trial guarantee and 90-day materials warranty
  • Includes usage manual with tips
  • Free international shipping when ordered with a shoe

Correct Toes and Softstar Shoes

We're proud to say that Correct Toes inventor Dr. McClanahan has been recommending Softstar shoes to his patients for many years! As a matter of fact, Dr. McClanahan even helped us test our Primal sole shape when it was in development. All shoes that are part of our Primal line are widest at the toes and are ideal for use with Correct Toes.

For our other shoes (made without the Primal sole shape), we have found that some work better with Correct Toes when ordered in a wide width. Below are our recommendations based on customer feedback, but please remember that the fit and comfort of Correct Toes may vary depending on the width and unique shape of your own feet.

These Softstar shoe styles tend to work well with Correct Toes in a REGULAR width (unless you normally wear a wide shoe... then order wide):

We recommend ordering these Softstar shoes in a WIDE width for use with Correct Toes even if you normally wear a regular width:

How to Wear Correct Toes

1. Start Slow!

Slowly and gracually wear them in increments of one-half to one hour per day and add an additional hour each day.

First wear them around the house and then eventually in shoes.

Best results are seen when Correct Toes are used both during physical activity and at rest.

Expect your feet and other parts of your body to feel different, perhaps even sore for a while as your toes realign to their natural position. If you have concerns, please see your doctor.

2. Wear Correct Toes in Shoes

Wear Correct Toes only in shoes that are wide enough in the toe box to incorporate them without rubbing on the foot (most Softstar shoes will accommodate Correc Toes, but this can vary depending on the shape and width of your foot).

Caring for Correct Toes

If your Correct Toes get dirty, simply wash them by hand with soap and warm water and let them air dry.

Correct Toes are constructed of medical-grade silicone for maximum comfort, flexibility and durability.

Sport model is notably different than the original

    Rating

There are several noteworthy differences between the sport model and the original Correct Toes. First, as noted in another review, they no longer have the option to add inserts to control the thickness at the big toe and pinky toe. Second, The thickness of material between the big toe and next toe is massive compared to the original. It is easily twice as thick as the original and not adjustable. And interestingly, the material between the pinky toe and next to it is much thinner. In fact, all the separators between the toes are thinner on the sport model except for the big toe. Third, the sport model seems less rigid but that may be due to the reduced material between the toes, not necessarily a difference in material. Fourth, the depth or length of the spacers between the toes is quite noticeably shorter, probably about 2/3 as long/deep as the original except for the spacer next to the big toe which is the same as the original. This, combined with a different cut that removes some of the flanges the original had between the toes, allows the sport model to be worn “deeper” with quite a difference in feel and mechanical separation of your toes. I’m not sure which is better, but I’m more used to the original and prefer how it feels, though it is harder to fit into some shoes/boots than the sports model.

    Improves Toe Alignment in Recovery

    Rating

I really appreciate that the Correct Toes Sport is softer and more flexible than the original. I find it more comfortable to wear, although the fact that it can bend makes it more appropriate for recovery or light activity than to wear during intense activity. The price is also more reasonable than the original. The one downside of this model vs the original is that the ability to customize it has been removed. There are no slots to place an extra insert between the 1st and 2nd or the 4th and 5th toes. Due to the shape of my foot and the nature of foot pain I've endured previously, I look to have a wider space between my big toe and second toe to keep my big toe aligned, but not to over-spread my smaller toes. This model works, but it was easier to accomplish this with the Original as I could put an insert between the 1st and 2nd toe and not between the 4th and 5th. I generally wear spacers barefoot at home. However, they do work in many SoftStar Shoes for me. I have worn them in my Rogues (which I bought in Wide width instead of sizing up), my Primal Sawyers, and my Merino Zen moccasins; and these shoes are all wide enough in the toe box that my foot fits while wearing the spacers and I don't feel any pressure or rubbing.
