Dr. Ray McClanahan, DPM created and clinically tested Correct Toes to position the foot in the alignment nature intended. According to Dr. McClanahan, by allowing the foot to function naturally, foot and joint problems may be treated and avoided.

These flexible silicone toe spacers for shoes are a simple, comfortable, and affordable alternative to more complicated and expensive options for treating foot pain, including orthotics and surgery. Correct Toes are purported to reduce injury rates, improve athletic performance, enhance foot and toe strength and flexibility and decrease the likelihood of lower extremity osteoarthritis. This toe-spacing device may also improve proprioception and balance.

Common foot and leg problems that may benefit from the use of Correct Toes include bunions, tailor's bunions, hammertoes, heel pain, ingrown toenails, Morton's neuroma, capsulitis, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, runner's knee... and more!

Each box of Correct Toes contains two toe spacers. Correct Toes toe spacers are best used with wide toe box shoes, including almost all Softstar styles.

Correct Toes and Softstar Shoes

We're proud to say that Correct Toes inventor Dr. McClanahan has been recommending Softstar shoes to his patients for many years! As a matter of fact, Dr. McClanahan even helped us test our Primal sole shape when it was in development. All shoes that are part of our Primal line are widest at the toes and are ideal for use with Correct Toes.

For our other shoes (made without the Primal sole shape), we have found that some work better with Correct Toes when ordered in a wide width. Below are our recommendations based on customer feedback, but please remember that the fit and comfort of Correct Toes may vary depending on the width and unique shape of your own feet.

These Softstar shoe styles tend to work well with Correct Toes in a REGULAR width (unless you normally wear a wide shoe... then order wide):

We recommend ordering these Softstar shoes in a WIDE width for use with Correct Toes even if you normally wear a regular width:

How to Wear Correct Toes

1. Start Slow!

Slowly and gracually wear them in increments of one-half to one hour per day and add an additional hour each day.

First wear them around the house and then eventually in shoes.

Best results are seen when Correct Toes are used both during physical activity and at rest.

Expect your feet and other parts of your body to feel different, perhaps even sore for a while as your toes realign to their natural position. If you have concerns, please see your doctor.

2. Wear Correct Toes in Shoes

Wear Correct Toes only in shoes that are wide enough in the toe box to incorporate them without rubbing on the foot (most Softstar shoes will accommodate Correc Toes, but this can vary depending on the shape and width of your foot).

Caring for Correct Toes

If your Correct Toes get dirty, simply wash them by hand with soap and warm water and let them air dry.

Correct Toes are constructed of medical-grade silicone for maximum comfort, flexibility and durability.

Game changer! I am gradually introducing these a few hours during evenings or while sleeping and already noticed an incredible reduction in calf and lower extremity tension. One bunion is visibly smaller as well; the progress is much faster since using these than with exercises alone. Also worth the investment over cheaper versions which I have tried. Thank you!!!

I wouldn't recommend Correct Toes to anyone. The Correct Toes company has been super unresponsive (email + phone calls), and their 30-day used 'warranty' only applies to items purchased directly from them (I bought their toe spacers from a local running company and Correct Toes won't let me use the warranty, even though I provided a receipt). It kind of makes sense, but the whole reason I bought Correct Toes specifically is because of their supposedly good customer service and warranty in case they didn't work for me. Considering you can buy basically the exact same product elsewhere for half the cost, there's no reason to pay a premium for Correct Toes, especially with their crap customer service.

    Response from store

Note from the Elves: Dear Miranda - The local running store where you buy them should absolutely provide a 30 day trial guarantee and 90 days material warranty and take them back. Have you gone back to where you purchased them? I know we provide this service to customers who purchase Correct Toes from our website and is the policy required in order to sell them. Hope this is helpful.

    Best toe spacers ever!

    Rating

I had foot surgery to straighten 4 of my toes, after surgery my bones were straight for the first month then my bones started to curve back to where they were prior to surgery. I ordered these toe spacers and wear them in wide toe box shoes everyday and my bones are straight once again. These are a lifesaver!!! Bought a second pair so I'm never without a clean set. Highly recommend.
  4. Excellent product

    Rating

Softstar's toe spacers are exactly as described. I ordered a women's size small, and they fit perfectly and comfortably -- I wear an 8 or an 8.5 women's shoe. Unfortunately, I did have to return them, but only because my foot problem was initially misdiagnosed and toe spacers actually aren't ideal for my current health issue. But if you are in need of toe spacers, these are excellent. Across the board, Softstar's customer service is exceptional. Elf Luma helped me via email and was super helpful. I also own a pair of Softstar shoes and love them, even after several years and many miles.

    Overpriced for what it is.

    Rating

The Correct Toes toe spacers are obviously made of high quality material and thoughtfully designed...but probably need to be a perfect fit to be comfortable. I found the material to be overly hard and the wide bars on the top and bottom didn't fit very comfortably to the shape of my foot. If I move the Correct Toes all the way down, they hit/rub on the bottom of my foot behind the toes. If I move them forward, they don't want to stay on. Also, for $65, they come with a lot of digital info on how to use them, how to clean them, how to trim them if you need to, etc...; but you don't get anything else. No storage bag or anything. For less than half the price, there are other products that are softer, more comfortable/adaptable, provide a better splay, and come with a small storage bag which is great for keeping them clean/dry or for travel.

    Great Product!

I needed to use toe spacers after a surgery to straighten my toes. The individual spacers would slide out of place inside of my socks so they weren't a good product for my needs. I purchased correct toes and even though I had to cut them down to use for just 2 toes they work perfectly! They are very comfortable to use and are the solution to my problem. Thank you!! I highly recommend!

I got these because my little toe was getting jammed into the 4th toe. They helped somewhat. I found that my big toe didn't seem to fit in them. The edge of the plastic poked the bottom of my large toe. I have wide shoes but wearing them seems to be tight anyway. I have been using a piece of cotton (batting/ball) between the 4th and 5th toe lately. That sort of helps. I think the design of these spacers can still be improved upon.

    Addicted!

    Rating

These are surprisingly comfortable to wear, with or without socks, in a shoe or a strappy sandal. My bunions are actually reversing and my toes are beginning to evenly splay! Notably improves my balance and stability, and enhances my yoga practice. I love to grip them when I'm walking! No regrets about purchasing these toe spacers!

I wear wide shoes. And my toes, especially my smaller toes, seem to get rolled over on one another. So at first it was very difficult to even get something in between them. However, after I got the toe spacer on I experienced immediate relief!

    Loving these!

A Solution I am happy to have found!

    Rating

I ordered these just under 2 months ago. My right toes have been getting more and more numb even while wearing Softstar shoes for years. My Dr wanted me to see a foot Dr a couple yeas back when I first noticed my right middle 3 toes were. nearly melded together. When left toes started numbing too and my right toes going numb while walking up and down hills, I knew I needed to take action. A foot Dr would require a trip out of town and I probably will do that when it becomes easier. As I was telling a friend about my concerns that my toes were getting numb while walking, we both thought of toe spacers in the same moment. Being very familiar with the Softstar website from ordering so many shoes, I immediately ordered what I had seen before here, toe spacers! It was a little uncomfortable at first, now I love wearing them! I only wear them on my right foot most hours of the day. I will likely wear them the rest of my life. I liken them to wearing braces, though I never had to. Thank you Softstar, I love your shoes, accessories, customer service and general better foot health! You are doing great work in the world!

I have been using Correct Toes for 4 years. A game changer! I have avoided surgery for Morton’s Neuroma on my right foot simply by wearing this device. I can run. walk, etc without pain. Highly recommend! I can wear this device in my Ballerines (sport. Medium width) and my Mary Janes without issue.

Saved my feet and my running. This thing works!

    Rating

I’ve been wearing CT for about 6 years now. In fact, the need for foot-shaped shoes after discovering that CT works is what led me to Softstar. As a longtime long distance runner whose love of running was about to be derailed due to debilitating foot pain from nascent Hallux Limitus, my discovery of CT has revolutionized my understanding of natural foot health. Over the years, I’ve switched my entire (extensive) shoe closet to natural foot-shaped shoes and the result is that I’m still running and with NO pain. The combination of CT, foot healthy shoes, and foot strengthening exercises make my feet feel (and look) so much stronger. I’m a lifelong convert. They take some getting used to (I’d take a look at the suggested modifications if you find that them to be uncomfortable for too long). I wore mine pretty much all the time, except while sleeping, in the beginning. Now, I always wear them whenever I’m doing anything weight bearing (walking, running, strength training, yoga). They’re very comfortable unless you try to wear them with conventional (widest at the ball) shoes—don’t do it! PSA - if you have access to an FSA, it may be worth checking to see if you’ll be reimbursed.

These work just as they should and are retraining my wide feet from years spent being squeezed into shoes that did not permit adequate toe spread.

    maybe need a larger size

    Rating

I a not sure how these are supposed to fit honestly. They work ok for between my big and second toe, but not quit right for the rest. THey are indeed helpful, but maybe i need a bigger size. I have skinny long toes and wear a size 10.5-11 in mens.

A great starting point for healthy toe spacing

    Rating

Use of Correct Toes is my first step toward correcting decades of squeezing my feet into shoes that are too narrow. This is a great product to use on its own, or combine with shoes that provide proper space for toe splay. I look forward to comparing before & after photos after using these consistently over time!

CORRECT TOES really help my bunion toes

    Rating

I had bunion surgery and still my toes didn't want to separate. As I grew older the issue got worse. I really like how my Correct Toes are helping my toes to find a more natural stance. I started with just a few minutes a day, and now can wear them for a few hours. Really helping, highly recommend.

    Miraculous Correct Toes

    Rating

My bunion doesn't hurt when I wear my Correct Toes. I started out just a few minutes a day and now I can wear them all day. I also wear five finger vibram shoes. I was someone who was struggling to wear any shoes comfortably. Thankfully, I can keep my Correct Toes on and fit them into my SoftStar Moccasins, and they also work in my Sorrel Snow Boots and a pair of Altria wide toe box sneakers. I can walk comfortably now, even jog a bit. And, no thank you to surgery. My advice, don't give up on them. They feel very strange at first but your foot wants to relax and spread out. Stop squeezing into crazy shaped shoes. And let your heel stay on the ground. Your whole body will thank you. Way to go Correct Toes!
  22. Love Correct Toes

    Rating

I have been wearing my Correct Toes for about a month now, and am pleased with them. I recently bought shoes that are Correct Toes compatible, which means I have been able to wear the Correct Toes for longer periods, and they feel great.
  23. So far so good

    Rating

I started wearing these approximately 2 months ago. I was able to wear them for long periods of time right off the bat. I have tried other devices and separaters all with pain after a few hours or numbness in my toes. I have not experienced any significant pain as I am able to adjust as needed. The concept of wearing these while you are active makes so much more sense then just night time wear. I do CrossFit and I can wear these while I work out. I did buy a pair of Alstra zero elevation shoes with the extra wide toe box and these fit just fine within the shoe. The separator has a place to insert cotton ball or something to help create more of a separation as time goes by which is nice. Yes, the price is steep. But it was painful enough to my pocket book to keep me doing it. I foresee a few years of wear to get me to where I need to be. I have non painful bunions on both feet.
  24. not for my feet

    Rating

I really wanted to like these but they don't fit my feet. I have long toes with a small pinky toe. Because of the curve of the top of my foot where my toes start, the pinky toe doesn't really fit well with the edge of the spacer. It either pinches or doesn't get fully spaced out. I emailed to ask if it's possible to refund them but didn't get a response. I'll continue trying them to see if I can get used to them (especially while at standing desk instead of walking) but wish i had found spacers that work for my foot type.

    Response from store

Note from the Elves: Hello Malia! Sorry that Correct Toes did not respond to you - but you could always reach out to us as you purchased them from us :-). Correct Toes come with a 30 day trial guarantee - so if they do not work for you, you can return them to us for refund. Best, The Elves!

Extremely well designed and surprisingly comfortable. Often forget I'm wearing them. A great way to begin to restore foot health, and undo damage from conventional footwear.
  26. Good by overpriced

    Rating

They do what they are designed to do, but $65 is absolutely ridiculous for this.
  27. Really good

    Rating

So far so good. Have had these for about a week and I can already feel a noticeable difference when I wear them. At first they were a bit sore/uncomfortable. Not much anymore. I love that these can be worn while doing other activities. That's the game changer. I even tried them in my softstar shoes that I purchased. With a few adjustments I should be able to wear them in shoes just fine. 1 star off is simply because I don't see where the $65 price comes in for the construction of the product. I imagine the markup is pretty high, but hey, capitalism. You can sell your products for whatever price you want. Keep it up guys, great products.
  28. Toe straighteners

    Rating

One of my toes was looking a little like hammer toe. This little gadget keeps the straight while on. I wear it for about 4 hours then take a break. My toe is more supple and straightens out while massaging. I have high hopes it will return to normal.
  29. Old timer

These are worth the price. I wear them every day, all day. I now walk with good balance, and they fit with all my shoes. A nice positive change.

  31. Best Toe Spreaders on the Market

    Rating

Finally! These gel toe spreaders actually fit my big feet comfortably (I am a women's size 11, double EE), which I haven't been able to find up to now with any of the other toe spreaders available on the internet. Hopefully it will gradually make a difference over time and my bunion will become less prominent as my foot has proper positioning throughout the day. Only downside is that they are so expensive.
  32. Better balance right away!

    Rating

I expect correct toes to take semi consistent wearing for a couple of years to really help correct my problem. I have worked constantly on my feet on a factory line, retail and house cleaning and I am now almost 48. It's all taken a toll on my body of course. The idea of surgery and specialists is off the table right now, I am self employed and uninsured. I purchased this product hoping for a sort of "sweat labor" alternative that I can afford but just need to really follow through with and I think it's working. Right from the beginning I noticed my balance which has always been a bit off has improved. I have been wearing them 3 times a week for 2-6 hours at a time for 6 weeks now. I have also noticed more mobility of my big toe. I really hope the bunion bump eventually reduces in size but I expect that might take a few years but I would rather do this than have my bone shaved in surgery for an expensive short term result.
  33. Toe Spacers

    Rating

I have hereditary bad toes/feet. About 3 years ago I started foot and toe yoga. This has been a huge help for my foot health. I have tried a similar toe product in the past but did not follow through...quite awhile before yoga. Anyway this product is a great compliment to the toe yoga routine and helps work and strengthen my feet and toes nicely. I personally recommend this product. One side note....you need to take it slowly when using this product.
  34. These work for me!

    Rating

I have bunions on both the pinky toe side as well as big toe side of both feet. They’ve been there since my early teens and have always been a source of discomfort and embarrassment. I’ve been wearing my Correct Toes consistently these past 6 weeks — while at home and while out and about wearing my new Merry Janes. My feet, ankles, and toes are getting stronger and my balance is better as a result. The way I walk has changed with Correct Toes and minimalist shoes. It seems as though my bunions are smaller but that could also be because they are not getting irritated and inflamed with excess friction within tapered toe boxes in traditional shoes.. I am using some of the other tools recommended by Dr. McClanahan as well with great results. I am curious to see how consistency over time may begin to reverse my bunions, but honestly it feels like a “win” just caring for and appreciating my feet, so bunion reversal would simply be icing on the cake.
  35. Worth the price

    Rating

I had my eye on these for a long time, but hesitated to buy them because of the price. This spring I had a lot of pain in my toes, not positive what it was, Morton's neuroma, perhaps? So I decided to spring for these. They were so worth it - really soft and flexible. Comfortable enough to wear around the house, they fit in most of my minimal shoes (Soft Star Merry Janes, Lems boots), and they absolutely solved my toe pain. These days I feel more comfortable wearing them than not. If you're on the fence, I recommend them!
  36. Fit my shoes!

    Rating

I purchased these along with the metatarsal pads and a pair of shoes. I feel like these are helping to correct my foot posture (bunions and hammer toes) which developed due to genetics and poor shoe choices in the past. I have another set of toe separators I purchased from someone else, that are so cumbersome, that I cannot fit into a pair of shoes while wearing them. These separators do fit into the Softstar shoes I purchased. I can feel more foot to ground contact when I run now and no more bunion pain. I think both the separators and the metatarsal pads are helping my toes to straighten. They look longer now.
  37. They have made an amazing difference in only a month.

    Rating

I love my Correct Toes. They have made an amazing difference in only a month. I've had plantar fasciitis and my Softstar shoes really, really helped to improve that. Since I started using my Correct Toes, I can feel my toes getting stronger. The muscles in the arch of my feet and at the bottom of my feet are getting stronger as well. The Correct Toes fit perfectly with my Softstar shoes. It took several days to adjust to the Correct Toes and my feet felt tender and sore in those few days. I would encourage everyone to persevere for the first few days because in the end it is so worth it!
  38. Expensive

    Rating

Not sure why these are so much. They’re only $15 from the foot collective. These are amazing but it’s sad that stuff like this is so expensive. People are trying to get their feet back on track!

    Response from store

We're glad to hear you're a fan of the Foot Collective. We've collaborated with them and love their initiative! But I'm sorry to say you are mistaken about their prices. We verified that the Foot Collective sells these Correct Toes spacers for $85 CAN (which converts to $65 USD, varying slightly depending on the current exchange rate). This is the standard MSRP set by Correct Toes and retailers are not allowed to sell them for a cheaper price unless they are secondhand, clearance or on a temporary sale sanctioned by Correct Toes.
  39. Fit well but uncomfortable to wear all day

    Rating

The spacers fit well, but they are uncomfortable to wear all day. Maybe if they didn't go around my big toe, it would be better, but they rub and cause blisters if I wear them all day.

    Response from store

We're sorry to hear these were uncomfortable for you, but we're wondering if you had the right size. Correct Toes shouldn't go around your big toe like you described, so it's likely a smaller size would fit you better. Also, Correct Toes can be trimmed and modified for comfort, so if part of the silicone is causing discomfort then it can easily be snipped off with a pair of scissors. The instructions that come with the package provide details on how to make a variety of adjustments, which is one of the reasons we prefer them over other foot relief products.
  40. Support much better posture

    Rating

One needs to break into them gradually. They are correcting the medium sized bunion I have AND my hammer toes from wearing Birkenstocks. We're so prone to take our feet for granted, and these correct toes are helping me to be more aware of the importance of optimally preserving and supporting the health of my feet/toes. I didn't want to spend the money, but I'm SO glad I did.
  41. I think they're working...

    Rating

I bought these because waitressing was destroying my feet in only 6 months and I was developing bunions on my pinky toe side of the foot scary fast. I was hoping to wear them all day at work, but sadly they do not fit inside my Danskos. So I'm wearing them in the evenings after work and on the weekend. I can feel them changing the bone structure in my feet. I basically can only wear them with my UGG slippers (nothing else is wide enough). I bought toe socks to wear with them so they'd pinch less, but in THE RIGHT shoe your feet don't mind them too much. I have crooked toes (I've broken basically all of them) so I think rubbing was worse for me in the beginning. I have only worn them barefoot so far. I do think they work (I feel change), but haven't seen a change in the bunion size yet. I have only been using them maybe a month or so probably though.
  42. Seem to aid separating scrunched toes

    Rating

Using to improve a Morton's neuroma. Seem to provide some relief. Hope that over time along with stretching and toe exercises that neuroma will be eliminated and that toes will be able to be sprayed outward.
  43. Verified Buyer

    Love these!

    Rating

I have had my correct toes for about 5 months now. I feel like my problem feet (bunions are the main problem) are gradually improving, as I wear these with my softstar shoes, do some exercises with my toes, and massage the toe portion of my feet and bunions with olive oil. Whether or not my feet are improving, the bunions have definitely stopped getting worse and hurting, which is wonderful! I only ordered a single pair initially and I am still able to wear them, although one has started to tear, so I am ordering my second pair now.
  44. worn correct toes at work for two days

    Rating

Just started wearing the correct toes for two days, they do feel great. When I wear them I can feel how my stance has changed by spreading my toes. I will need to adjust the product to fit my left pinky toe. It kind of sucks to pay $65.00 for something you have to cut-up, but overtime it should get better. I have been wearing Lem's Nine-to-Five since May '16, but I cannot wear correct toes in these shoes even though they are listed as approved footwear. I guess my foot too wide? At least I can go barefoot at work while I am at my desk. I gave it 3 stars because I will need to give it time to see how correct toes affect my feet.
  45. I started wearing the toe spacers and minimal shoes and my foot pain and heel spurs have completely disappeared. It is so nice to walk without any pain!

    Rating

I started wearing the toe spacers and minimal shoes and my foot pain and heel spurs have completely disappeared. It is so nice to walk without any pain! Gone are the custom inserts that ended up causing me more pain! The toe spacers take a few days to get used to, but now I almost forget I am wearing them!
  46. Not for me

    Rating

I am disappointed with my toe spacers. I have bunions and thought they could benefit me but they aren't really for this condition or at least don't seem to be for me.
  47. New sizing

    Rating

I am now using the new size medium and I think it is the fit I really needed. I have had both the small and the old medium and would get to a point where I developed sores that would not go away no matter what I tried doing. The new size--though I am building up slowly to more regular use--stays in place better. I really love what the correctoes have done to aid my balance and walking comfort, so truly hope I will be able to wear these for hours at a time without rubbing.
  48. a life saver!

    Rating

Correct toes have been a life saver! I went from very painful toes due to arthritis to painfree with better balance as well. I can walk miles with the correct toes and the right shoes to accommodate where I was literally hobbled before using them. I've had a little trouble with sizing and was told there will be an inbetween size coming out soon which I will try.
  49. I can walk again without pain after starting to use my toe separators! A must for people with foot problems.

    Rating

Do you research and shop for these must have toe separators! I can't live with them now right up there with my electric toothbrush! They brought relief from the first time I wore them. (They were sold out on Amazon.ca! Glad to get them in U.S.)

  51. Actually Work - and Quickly Too

"Wow" is the first word that comes to mind to describe this product. I didn't expect them to work as well as they did, and I certainly didn't expect them to work so quickly. I bought these because my toes were always very weak and pushed together from years of wearing the wrong shoes. I wanted to try and fix this and it looked like the Correct Toes could help so I figured why not. Within a few weeks of wearing these only at night, my toes naturally started spreading out on their own (even without the correct toes in), and they started getting stronger too. I could feel my toes digging into the ground more and stretching wide with each step. The good results are sticking around too; my feet have been trained to work better just from wearing these for a very small amount of time. And I don't have to keep these on to have the benefits - think of them more like training devices than simple toe spacers. I was so taken by this product that I told a friend about them, and he has seen even better results than I have. I also went ahead and bought a pair for a very skeptical family member who is now amazed at what her feet are capable of after wearing these for a little while. All in all, I can definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to unleash the potential of their feet.

For the last 5 month I have pain while walking in my left foot (metatarsalgia) . I starterd to read about it in tne net and read about the need of toes separators and how it is helping all kind of feet problems. I bought several products and found out it is indeed helping to release the pain !!! Correct Toes is the only product that I can wear for hours and in shoes !!! I already ordered one more pair and also ordered the Hawthorne Chukka which are considered Correct Toes approved footwear. Cant wait for it to arrive. Thank you Elves

I have been using Correct Toes for 3-4 years now and will never stop using them. I originally purchased them because I was having knee issues while hiking/running and was trying EVERYTHING to help. No, they did not magically cure my knees, but they just make my feet feel--well, the way feet are supposed to feel. My feet feel comfortable, more natural, and I feel more balanced when I'm walking around. I actually don't like the way my feet feel without them. After all this time I do think my feet have changed a bit from wearing them--with I had before/after x-rays to prove it. And since wearing them forces me to purchase shoes actually shaped like feet, I believe my feet are happier all around. I keep 2 pair and wear them 24/7, including hiking each weekend for 10-20 miles. I cut off half of the separator between 4th & pinky toe because that seems to work best for my feet. When wearing them with shoes I just wear Injinji socks--my feet sweat a lot so wearing shoes barefoot has not worked well for me. But in the summer I just go barefoot around the house and wear them. They last forever (I get about 1 year out of a pair before they split between one of the toes on the bottom), but I continue using them until they actually separate into 2 pieces, another few months. I keep 2 pair, the first one goes into the shower with me for a quick wash and when I'm done pair #1 air dries while pair #2 goes on my feet. They are also a conversation starter when you're taking off your shoes at airport security and both grandkids are fascinated by them. Husband suffers minor embarrassment while around me during these times, but then he can't even separate his toes! I'm female, 46 years old, and have received no compensation for this review...I'm just glad I read about these years ago and purchased them.

Customer Questions

Yes, we recommend going up to the larger size. Correct Toes change by both width and length as you go up and down in sizes, but width is most important for them to work properly. It is also recommended to order the larger size if you are between sizes.
