Martin is a lifelong runner who began wearing minimalist shoes over 10 years ago when he found they alleviated his chronic foot pain, which eventually disappeared completely. He further studied proper running form through a series of workshops taught by Correct Toes inventor, Dr. Ray McClanahan DPM. Martin has collaborated with several health care professionals to collect and share peer-reviewed studies that show the benefits of minimalist footwear. In his personal life, Martin loves living in the Pacific Northwest because it allows him to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities year-round, including hiking, cycling, rock climbing, surfing and snowboarding.

When I was in college, I had this green REI backpack that made it through 5 years of books upon books, notebooks, pens, pencils, calculators, and even a change of clothes. The straps on it were SO comfortable, I literally could carry about 50 lbs in it, and my shoulders never got wore out. Once I graduated, I took it on a rafting trip, and it didn't quite make it back in the best condition. It was 6 years old after all. So I bought another one, EXACTLY the same, but in blue. I have finished the school phase of my life, but I use it when I travel or just anytime I'm on the go. I would LOVE to win this prize so I could get some more REI gear. My father turned me onto the brand back when cargo pants were anything but cool, but he always said function before fashion. REI combines that and then some. I'd spend it all in a matter of hours online. I have heard about Soft Star shoes from my sister who has bought all three of her sons several pairs that they ADORE! I would love to see what everyone is talking about, and my niece's birthday is coming up, so I'd be able to be the "Cool Aunt" and get her her first pair. What an amazing giveaway! I would buy myself a custom pair of Soft Stars for sure in exactly the colors for me! I would also update our camping gear for the family! Living in Wyoming some mega warm sleeping bags are a must...plus probably some bear spray :)

I am on my 3rd pair of soft stars. started years ago when I read the Born to Run book. I wear them exclusively and end up wearing holes into the leather at the toe. Not complaining - nothing lasts forever (especially things that go on your feet every day!). My only wish is that you made some made of canvas (or canvas like) material. I don't feel good about the use of leather.
