Great shoes, great customer service from the elves! Review by Chris
Rating
I have size 7U with thin soles and they fit me well but as I have narrow feet I decided to try the size 7Narrow (with thick soles). These are a firmer fit with a narrower toe box, and my forefoot spreads right to the edges of the sole. With wear, the leather has stretched to fit my foot more comfortably. There is not much obvious difference in look between normal width and narrow width, although the narrow shoes have a slightly narrower toe box.

The elves were very helpful when I made an exchange of colour (along with a size exchange on another style), and the new pairs arrived promptly. Great communication and customer service. Very happy with my purchases and will be back for more :) (Posted on 5/21/17)
nice colour and enjoyable feeling Review by Andra

This are my first barefoot shoes. They are amazing. The contrast of the colour is so nice. I'm glad that you have this option to combine yourself the colour. Walking with them I became aware of how my muscles are working while walking. (Posted on 5/15/17)
Awesome, I have four pairs. Review by Amy

I custom designed my own Dash Runamocs in "Lite blue" (it's Navy, but perforated, was limited qty and I think it's gone now) front and sides, with a Sky blue back, leather sole, and white laces. They are as cute as can be. Very comfortable. I wear 8.5 N in "regular " store shoes, and measure right at the end of the 8U zone on their printout. I had to send back the 8U N on these because it was too short. The 9U N is perfect. I now have four Dash, two are 8U, two are 9U, all three sole types. Sizing seems a bit inconsistent but maybe because I'm right on the edge. But if you are patient and send them back, SoftStar is very helpful and will remake even the custom shoes. My advice on custom design; if you stick to two colors, whether front and sides being the same; or sides and back being the same, it looks better, more "normal". Three colors is fun and zany, but starts to look a little wacky. I don't find the leather soles too slippery. Too cold in winter, yes, but slippery hasn't been a problem for me. (Posted on 5/3/17)
Logged miles in the Smoky Mountains Review by K.P.
Rating
This is just a thank you. My Soft Stars have logged miles in the Smoky Mountains, Cherokee, Nanthahala, Knoxville sidewalks. Wiped clean of mud they've even attended a couple of weddings.

So I decided that it might be time for a new pair. But someone gave me a Zappos gift card. I used the card and bought some Vivobarefoots.

Enclosed is a picture of my 6(?) year old RunAmocs atop the ninety day old Vivo's with the shoe tearing away from the sole. In short, I'll be ordering a new pair of RunAmocs just as soon as I figure out what to do with a two hundred dollar Zappos store credit.

Note from the Elves: Thank you for sharing KP!! I wish our review software allowed us to include the picture showing the two shoes - :-). Glad that your RunAmocs have given you so much wear!

Excellent! Review by Claire

These are THE BEST shoes I've ever owned! So soft and comfortable with the most minimal sole for perfect ground feel. I've been wearing minimal footwear for some time- Softstar is by far my favorites- I want a whole wardrobe of them! I live in Australia and the service was very prompt. I just wish you had a workshop here so I could afford more pairs! (Posted on 4/29/17)
Like slipping your foot into a labrador's ear Review by Al.
Rating
The RunAmoc Dash with bullhide leather sole are ridiculously comfortable. I hesitated before buying them, worried about what would happen in wet weather, based on all the reviews. Yes, if you walk on really wet surfaces for a prolonged time, moisture will eventually seep through. Yes, if the weather is wet and you walk on *really* smooth surfaces (polished marble floors, white lines on the road), they do feel a bit soapy underfoot. On the other hand, they are so flexible and comfortable that they are just like a leather glove on the foot. I've had them for 2 years and you can see the complete outline if the foot in the (light) wear on the sole. I've also never slipped over and wouldn't return them for double the money. Great for casual wear and athletics Review by Thomas B
Rating
I suppose my most compelling endorsement would be the fact that I've bought multiple pairs. I currently have a couple pairs for exercise, both with LITE material, one with 5mm and the other with 2mm soles. I also have a pair in aged walnut that I wear casually with jeans or khakis.

I've tried multiple other shoes on the minimalist side of the spectrum, but nothing so comfortable, reasonably priced, and well made as these. Also, they work particularly well for wide feet. (Posted on 4/15/17)
I LOVE My Dash RunAmocs! Review by Mary
Rating
Firstly, the service I received from Softstar was fantastic. Elf Tesla was super helpful during the time I was considering placing an order. The amount of time from order to delivery was reasonable considering the shoes are custom made and I live in Australia.

The only downside for me is the exchange rate which made the shoes quite a bit more expensive.

I ordered custom and I am really pleased with the quality, colors and fit. These are my first minimalist shoes, and I have had no trouble transitioning. I intended to wear them at the gym, but they are just too good looking! I have been wearing them as a casual shoe and have had lots of compliments.

I am not a runner, but do a lot of walking, and have found these shoes to be very comfortable. They fit me like a glove. Good ground feel. (Posted on 4/10/17)
Love my custom Dashes with trail sole Review by Burton
Rating
I've had several pairs of Softstar shoes including the original Runamoc in suede, the Runamoc lite, the Rambler, the Hawthorne Chukka, and the Runamoc Dash with the street sole. My custom Dashes with the trail sole are just what I was hoping for -- minimalist and attractive shoe that is good for running, with just a little more to keep some gravely parts of trails I run from poking my feet too much. I'm very satisfied. (Posted on 3/23/17)
Perfect shoes, if not for my bony, flat feet Review by Hannah
Rating
I really do love these shoes. I ordered them custom, all blazing red, and the first pair were too small for me. My first order was easily returned, thanks to the elves, and I received the new pair in about two weeks. My feet are bony, narrow, and flat, always limiting what types of shoes I can wear. I use Correct Toes daily, and I ordered a regular when I would typically wear a narrow. They fit excellently with my Correct Toes. On my first walk with these, I didn't wear socks, and because of my flat feet, I got a blister on the inside of my right foot, where the edge of the shoe begins. I'm now wearing them with short socks to cover that area until, hopefully, they stretch a bit. I ordered the 5 mm sole, and I feel pain in my heel from the lack of cushion in both the shoe and my foot. Still adjusting to minimalist shoes, but I'd say these are the best I've tried so far (I have Lems and Altra, as well). I'll definitely be buying more pairs in the future. (Posted on 3/20/17)
I adore these shoes Review by Piggity
Rating
I own two pairs of these, one orange suede and the other the perforated brown leather. Both are with the bullhide leather sole. I just love them both. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned, bar none. I've spent the past few years running more minimalist, including spending a year or two regularly doing 2-5 mile barefoot runs on streets and sidewalks.

Walking and running in these shoes is what I wish running barefoot felt like: perfect ground feel without the frequent sharp pains from stepping on various grit, pebbles and such. I haven't tried running on wet surfaces but the bullhide poses no traction problems indoors or out. I've run up to 15 miles at a time in these shoes, while these sort of distances are still new to me, especially without bulky, cushioned shoes, the shoes themselves held up admirably.

My only gripe is that the orange suede really bleeds when it gets wet, so depending on if I'm socked or not, either my socks or feet end up orange after runs of any real distance. Such is life. Nothing is perfect but these shoes are exactly what I have been looking for. (Posted on 3/15/17)
I would get 5mm next time Review by LauraRose
Rating
I LOVE my custom colors. I feel like an elf. I love that I can wear them inside and go outside without switching shoes. I love them for walking on wood and trails. I do Not love them for sidewalks for extended periods. The 2 mm is good enough to protect from sticks and gravel, but maybe I just walk too hard on pavement. If I have to go a long way on pavement I prefer to jog toe strike style in these, which is extra silly looking even than usual when you are wearing a skirt. ;) Not sure the 5 mm would help me that much but I'm going to try on my next pair! I love my new Dash RunAmoc shoes, which actually feel more like slippers! The service from SoftStar was excellent, above and beyond my expectations. Even though I ordered a custom shoe, color and sole combination, they gracefully allowed returns and exchanges twice until I found the perfect fit!
Now that i know which size to order, I'll be getting these in a couple different color combinations and sole options. Thanks so much to the Elves at SoftsStar! (Posted on 12/27/16)
Amazing Shoes! Review by Lucas
Rating
I really like that I can choose the type and color of leather as well as some choice on details such as thread color and more importantly structural details such as width and sole thickness. I ordered the Dash 11Wide with 2mm sole. It has great ground feel, even a little better than my Vivobarefoot shoes. If you want to wear a mid or heavy weight sock, order a size up. I ordered 1/2 size up and at first I thought I could only wear them barefoot but they did stretch to fit ultra thin socks. Thanks so much, I can tell a lot of intelligent design went into these shoes, I already ordered another pair styled for dressier occasions and am considering a 3rd pair in size 12W with 5mm sole for cooler weather. The shoes fit and are colorful and just like barefoot...but with a wet fall they are muddy most of the time and I will have to see how they hold up before making it a 5 star... bringing in a lot of mud too but I will not hold that against the shoes...or the fact they are cold & damp and I need to buy some cashmere socks for the winter....I love the shoes!!!!! There's A Reason For The Long Reviews Review by Tina
Rating
I'm amazed with the quality of construction, options, and service. (My son wears the Rambler!)

Be true to yourself when choosing colors =D . These shoes can last for YEARS. I've worn a single pair of Dash RunAmocs daily (rain, puddles, runs, hikes, cycling, driving, horse ranch, snow, asphalt... everwhere) for two years, and they are still going! The 2MM sole now looks like the smooth bullhide, and with little to no traction, but (to me) it's no bother on either street or dirt.

An investment for sure.

My pinky toes, over the years in conventional shoes, have turned inward and underward (yes) to the neighboring toe. This self-corrected in my SSS.

I recommend conditioning the leather for long-term water resistance and checkout SSS' elastic lace in the accessories section. I've considerably stretched my upper because I don't untie my shoes to put them on. Wearing socks can better preserve the insole from sweat, water and dirt.

Also, you want them to FIT. Extra length or width is not needed like in conventional footwear. Mine are slightly too large and my foot shifts around which isn't healthy (for muscles and tendons) or comfortable.

I'm waiting for mine to die so I can buy another pair! (Either the Original RumAmoc and/ or Hawthorne Chukka.) I'm putting a thin layer of sealant along the seam to better stop water absorbtion this winter. This may never be a concern for you, but mine are well loved =D .

For the Skimmers:

Long Lasting.
Superb Quality.
Outstanding Service.
Worth the Investment.
USA Made.
Healthy. Happy Feet.
NOT Vegan. (Posted on 11/29/16)

The most comfortable shoes I've ever owned! Review by Rhonda

About three weeks ago I received my Custom Adult Dash RunAmoc shoes and after wearing them everyday since, I'm still amazed at how comfortable they are all day long. I bought them for winter and wear them with thick wool socks...my feet feel like they are barefoot even after working all day. I dislike having to wear any of my other shoes for even an hour now! So, of course I had to place an order for another pair of Soft Star shoes to wear with dressier clothes...my Ballerine's will arrive soon and I hope I love them as much as I do my Dash RunAmocs. Thank you Elves for the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned! (Posted on 11/11/16)
Easily My Favorite Shoes Review by James

...except in the rain, on smooth pavement or mud. I got a pair with bullhide soles, and I love the way they conform to my feet, connect with the ground and don't weigh me down. But they ARE ridiculously slippery on smooth, wet surfaces (fine on wet surfaces that have more texture to them). I rarely wear any other shoes. (Posted on 11/7/16)

The Most Comfortable Shoes I Have Ever Had Review by Bill.P

I must admit, I was a little hesitant ordering custom shoes online. But the whole experience of picking my colors, sole, laces all went smooth, and the shoes look exactly as shown on the website. Shoe is exactly as stated, light, comfortable, flexible, molded to my foot, and well constructed. They are attractive enough that I can get away with wearing them at work for business casual. I will be recommending these shoes to my family and friends. Thanks, Soft Star Elves. Keep up the great work! (Posted on 10/17/16)

I live in Sweden and it is a friggin' hassle to get the shoes over here, but none the less I only wear Softstar shoes. The front of my feet (the toes, doh!) has noticeably widened since I started wearing them.

Further, I run about 300 km per month in my RunAmocs without any issues what so ever. I used to have terrible knee issues when running in traditional shoes.

I love the elves and I love their shoes. (Posted on 10/7/16)

I love my new leather soled shoes! They are soooo comfortable. I am enjoying wearing them without socks and being able to feel the ground and my feet move as I walk. I got my Custom RunAmoc Dashes a few days ago. I could'nt have imagined how comfortable the leather would be. I got the Sublime smooth leather on the entire shoe.

This is also the best fitting shoe I have ever worn, running shoe, formal, or otherwise. Incredible. I was cautious about getting such a form-fitting shoe after wearing the Rogue for almost a year. But the RunAmoc Dash fits even better. Thank you! (Posted on 9/24/16)

Best SoftStar yet Review by Lal Beral
Rating
I recently transitioned from the original RunAmoc to the Dash RunAmoc. I like the Dash better. Not that I really care, but the Dash is more "normal" looking than the original, making it more versatile for different uses. Also, I decided I really didn't like the feel of the laces around my ankles with the RunAmoc originals; the Dash doesn't hug my ankles in this way.

I was concerned that the Dash wouldn't be as roomy as the originals, but I've started ordering all my SoftStar shoes in wide, and this gives me all the room I need.

I have one pair of Dash RunAmocs with the street soles for regular wear, and another with the trail soles for wet days...

I prefer the street soles, but the trail sole gives a little more elevation which helps keep the shoes dry if there is rain or slush.

I will be ordering many more pairs of these in the future. (Posted on 9/2/16)
4.5 Out of 5 Stars Review by Shane
Rating
My Dash RunAmoc's are solid vegetable tanned cocoa, with the trail sole (normal width). The color is a little bit darker than the customizing tool makes it appear, but not too much darker.
The only issue I've had: I got caught in the rain about the third time I wore them. My shoes got completely soaked. After the shoes dried, the leather felt stiff and brittle, and looked ugly. Apparently, they are not conditioned AT ALL from the factory. I HIGHLY recommend using leather conditioner on the shoes before you ever wear them around town. I wanted something that wouldn't make the leather any darker, which most conditioners will do. I can highly recommend "Pecard Leather Care Lotion." Works great, relatively inexpensive, and did not darken my shoes as far as I can tell. I ended up using about 4 coats to make the leather supple again. Got caught in the rain again with no issues. SoftStar should definitely put a few coats of conditioner on the shoes before they ship them, or include some in the box.
Also, SoftStar mentions on the website that vegetable tanned leather can stain from getting wet, thus they recommend wiping the entire shoe with a damp cloth if it gets wet. This should be included on a note with any shoes that have the vegetable tanned leather. If I had not been extra thorough in my research, I doubt I would have noticed that tidbit, and may have ended up with brand new shoes stained from rain water. Not a nice thought. Please, SoftStar, make it easy for your customers to know what it takes to maintain their new shoes. Put a note in the box with vegetable tanned leather.
Overall, great shoes. I am used to wearing Lems boulder boots. The toe box is not quite as wide as my Lems. If you need all the space in your Lems, then your toes may rub a little on the sides of these shoes. My toes don't really splay and my big toe is relatively straight to my foot, i.e. if I have a straight edge from heel to toe, the edge touches my heel, the knuckle where big toe meets foot, and the side of my big toe. If your toes splay, then they will probably rub in these shoes (normal width). (Posted on 8/27/16)
Change in sizing = unhappy feet Review by Carla

My first THREE pair of these shoes were so comfortable! I had them in black, blue, and black/pink and wore them so much that the soles are wearing out. I wear a 9-9 1/2 narrow in "regular" shoes and the 9U narrow fit beautifully. True, there was some excess material that bunched in the forefoot as I had to lace them so tightly there was barely 1/2" between the two sides where the eyelets are located.

I ordered a pair during the annual sale in butternut and the fit was off but I thought they would stretch. They didn't. I ordered another pair in the ventilated leather and had the same problem. Both are way too tight across the forefoot. It is quite painful against my toes. There is no longer any excess material in the forefoot and the eyelets when laced are quite a distance apart.

I compared old vs. new and found that the length is the same and I have the same distance between my toe and the end of the shoe. The heel on the new shoe is a bit wider (not good for me). The real problem seems to be on the sides and front. Measuring from the top of the sole to the middle of the 2nd eyelet, there is a 1/4" difference on each side, or a 1/2" total and it is a painful difference. There also seems to be less material across the forefoot.

I guess I am out of luck. If I go up a size, I will be tripping over the end of the shoe, as I already have excess room there. If I go up in the width, the heel will be way too roomy. Too bad! These used to be my favorite shoes. They are still very well made, but they just don't fit anymore. (Posted on 8/10/16)
longest review ever to say - they grew on me Review by TMarie
Rating
When I first ordered my custom pair, I received them and they looked amazing but even though I used the sizing chart, the edge came right up to my toe and I was worried they wouldn't stretch enough. I stuffed them overnight and it didn't seem to help enough.
So I took advantage of the return policy (even on my custom designed ones) and ordered a size up. The elves were very helpful with this and with giving me tips to make sure they came back right for me.
I received the second pair - now they fit right away without stretching, BUT being one size up, they look a lot wider and a bit clowny. I was pretty sad because the pair one size smaller didn't look unusually wide (I ordered a normal width both times). I realized they were meant to be slightly wider but felt there was just a tad too much room in the front part of the shoe besides the length which seemed to be perfect. I contemplated sending them back again and maybe trying another style (the flats are supposed to be more snug so look less clowny) but I already paid $10 for the package and shipping them back and didn't want them to become $155 as opposed to the $135 they started out as.
Which is probably silly, not wanting to spend an extra $20 to make sure you really love your $135 shoes, but there you have it.

I decided to commit to them and just start wearing them. At first I felt they looked a little silly, just because the front part looks so wide and big compared to the rest of the shoe, it doesn't have a streamlined look and I'm already a size 9 so I don't need my feet looking any bigger. Let me say I think if you're a female size 8 or less this wouldn't be an issue at all.

I DID love the way they felt to walk in though, that i could feel and grip the ground and my foot went through the full flexion and motion that is restricted with conventional shoes. I've been doing foot stretches and wearing yoga toes and I could definitely feel how good these were for my feet. It's been a couple weeks, and I noticed that as I've worn them more the top has stretched vertically a little to shape my foot, and therefore they look less flat and I don't feel they're so goofy now.
I'm actually starting to love them, EXCEPT, which is my fault, that my beautiful color combo (pale blue, sea blue and forest green) is gorgeous stand alone but is hard to wear with any other colors since there's so much going on. I took them on a hike at Runyon Canyon for the first time today and they were great! Was awesome not to have my feet all stuffed and padded, and the traction was good enough to go up a steep dusty sandy trail.

I initially didn't think I would want another pair, but I just spend 10 minutes designing some more neutral ones (only ONE fun pop of color ;) And I actually really want another pair now! Plus I definitely want to try the ballerines!

So after all that, I'd say they're great and the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is that I felt like the width increased disproportionately when I went the one size up. (Posted on 8/6/16)
Like slippers to prance in the forest Review by Kristin

I've had my dashes a little over a month now and ordered a 7U narrow. I normally wear a 7.5-8 in a shoe and most shoes are too wide for me. I do like a wide toe box though as even with my narrow feet, my toes are often squeezed (esp. the pinky toe). When I first got the dashes, I was worried they were too small as they were really tight on top of my big toes, but I stretched the toe box for a day or so with socks stuffed in the toes and they stretched out a bit. After wearing them for a day or two with thin socks, they stretched out and feel great now. I love hiking in them - I got the trail sole. I also was wear them just as casual shoes too.

They were my first SS shoe and I've tried the Metro MJs and ballerines, but they didn't work for my feet, so I am considering the Hawthorne chukka. I do have a pair of roos now too as a house shoe. (Posted on 7/7/16)
I am addicted to Soft Star Review by LeeLee
Rating
I am new to Soft Star, switching over from Vibram. I ordered this shoe first with the Billhide bottom. It was good length wise, but must admit it was baggy enough on top of foot to look like a clown shoe. I next tried the narrow bullhide based on recommendation by Elves and the top was perfect, but I was stepping on the seam. Next recommendation was regular bottom, narrow top..really?! I could not believe the Elves would do that for me!! Well it turned out bull hide just did not work for my low volume foot and a narrow with street sole was recommended to lift me above the seam. UTTER PERFECTION! I am sad not to have bullhide, I loved the way they feel, but I am overjoyed I found a pair to fit and have become a customer for life....as well as the other 4 in my family! Thank you Elf Tesla for all your valued help and patience! I have never been addicted to shoes before...but I am looking at all the color combinations...... (Posted on 6/24/16)
A DIFFERENT LOOK Review by Doc Moore
Rating
The overall quality is good, but this is literally as simple a shoe as money can possibly buy. No lining, simple stitching, very simple patterning, and a design that does not appear to have been formed over a "last". The leather seems to be good stuff, soft as it needs to be. The fact that they will make almost any imaginable combination of colors is unique and impressive. There is probably a considerable overhead cost in maintaining the ability to do that and deliver in about one week.

Styling, sadly, is not to my taste. I should have gotten a narrow shoe. There is no way to really tell this from the sizing tools online. I think they make a narrower shoe. The "normal" shoe is flat. You can tell that from the pictures, but it is also very wide and, well, I think it looks weird. I don't wear these out of the house. I had intended to use these as driving shoes for club racing events (those that don't require fire proof suits), but actually, I just feel like they look too weird.

I wear short socks with them and they are comfortable around the house. They are fine barefoot too. They are everything the manufacturer claims. The buying experience and delivery were great. The price is not absurd for an essentially custom made, unique shoe. If you like your feet to look different...these will really work well for you. (Posted on 6/22/16)
Replacing my shoes Review by Sarah
Rating
This review is not what you might think...I am in LOVE! I have replaced all my other shoes with Soft Star shoes. All my hiking, and walking shoes have been donated and now in their place sits these wonderful Dash RunAmoc's (and a pair of Moc3's, and a Ballarine Sport - just to cover all my shoe basics :) To be fair, many of my old shoes worked hard and deserve credit, but Soft Star has won me over. I am barefoot almost all day unless I have to go out somewhere like the store etc... so I have always searched for as minimalistic a shoe as possible, often being disappointed. The Dash RunAmoc is amazing! Being able to customize them makes them the perfect shoe every time. I have a pair with a 2mm sole and a pair with the bullhide leather. While I prefer the leather, as it has a superior all around feel to me, the 2mm sole is great for days that it's just a little too wet. I am in the Pacific NW, so we get quite a few days like that. As others have said, you probably don't want to go puddle jumping in them if you want to stay dry, but I have had absolutely no issues so far with wet feet.
I do not run, but I do a lot of walking/trail hiking, and I still prefer these to anything else I had. I don't have any problems with either the 2mm or the bullhide sole while out, but I could see how on some terrain the 5mm trail sole might be beneficial to some. My feet stay warm enough, and so far I have not HAD to wear these shoes with socks. There is also no odor (yet), and I've been wearing them for several months now. I don't like my feet to be hot, so days that it's really warm I chose the Moc3's, because I think they breathe just a bit better because of the materials they're made out of, But if I had a Dash with the LITE uppers, I'd probably be just as fine in this style as well.
If you're not sure about these, just get them and see. The return/replace policy is amazing and quick. There is nothing to lose if you are thinking of investing in a great minimalist shoe anyway!! (Posted on 6/9/16)
Great shoes: lite upper, trail sole Review by Lee

I got these for city running, so mostly roads and sidewalks with just a bit of park/trails. They are perfect. One of the things I like the most is that the perforated lite leather keeps my feet feeling ventilated and dry. This is my third pair of Soft Stars. I still have and wear all 3 pair for different things. Great feel and durability. I'll be buying Soft Stars for years and years to come. (Posted on 6/5/16)
Great for giant feet Review by Kathleen

My husband bought a pair of these with LITE leather fronts for his summer shoes. He adores them. He has problems with athletes foot, but it's virtually impossible to find comfortable, breathable shoes for him. He normally wears a size 16. At the advice of the elves, we tried a size 15 handcut for him. It was a little snug at first, but loosened up within a few days. Now, they fit great...though I suspect the extra stretch will mean they need replacing faster than the rest of the family's shoes. It's worth it for him to have shoes that he really loves, though. He hasn't had a pair of shoes that was more than just "good enough" for decades. (Posted on 5/23/16)

I can't imagine being happier about a pair of shoes! Review by Alina

I received my custom shoes on Monday. It's Thursday night, and I've barely taken them off since they arrived.

I searched high and low for the perfect pair of shoes, and although I was a initially price tag shy, Soft Star was the clear winner. In the end, I think they are worth every penny.

I work from home and usually go barefoot, but I actually prefer wearing these shoes. The great thing is that they help regulate the temperature of my feet, so no cold feet throughout the day. As someone with perpetually cold feet, this is amazing!

These Dash RunAmocs are my second pair of minimalist shoes, but the other pair I have from another company gives my heel blisters, so I don't wear them often. As a result, I am not accustomed to minimalist running or shoes. Today I took them out for my first run in them. I did the majority of my run in my regular shoes, and then ran 1 minute/walked one minute in my RunAmocs for the last ten minutes. I LOVED IT. I could really feel the shift of the pressure absorption away from my joints. Amazing. That being said, I think I'll also be quite sore tomorrow, even from such a short run. A very slow and cautious transition is important.

I also have noticed zero odor with these shoes so far, which is excellent.

My future plans for these incredible shoes include daily use at home and out and about, and I also plan to take them on my next extended trip, which is a four month trip around the world. As a minimalist packer, I love that they will take me from city streets, to hiking, to a run, and that they weigh next to nothing if I decide to slip them into my pack.

The Dash RunAmocs are absurdly comfortable, I love the way my custom design turned out, and I'm already planning the design I'm going to order next. I can't say enough good things about these shoes. (Posted on 4/22/16)

Mixed feelings Review by Markus

I ordered a DYO Adult Dash RunAmoc Wide with Leather sole after reading Jarvis' Review (http://birthdayshoes.com/soft-star-runamoc-with-bullhide-review).

While reading mine, keep in mind that I've ordered from Germany so i can not easily return/replace these shoes. (also adds $30 to the pricetag for shipping Priority)

Here is my Summary for people who dislike reading:
Sizing needs to account for the seam and add 0,5 centimeter sole length and width around the toe-box.
Otherwise great.

Concerning Customs Clearing:
Attach a Copy of the Bill to the outside of the package so Customs can clear it and the postal service can deliver it to the delivery address.
I had to spend an extra 15 Euros and 2 Hours time to pick it up at the Customs Office since they need a Bill to calculate the import tax and vat.

Here is the long Summary:

Bull-hide leather sole:
Just awesome.

Leather upper & looks:
It's really hard to find wide shoes in the (minimalists) shoe market one can wear in the office.
One could say, it's almost impossible.

These RunAmoc look inconspicuous enough to not get noticed as "damn your shoes are weird / ugly".
The Upper leather is really soft, flexible and allows for enough breathing to wear them around the office instead of switching to sandals the minute i arrive at work.

At first i could barely get in, after a night with dry towels stuffed into them, they stretched enough to fit snugly.

Breathing:
Since German minimalist Shoe makers have been on a Vegan friendly trip for the last 5 years, especially when it comes to wider models - which with all the plastic makes one swim in ones own sweat and dissolved chemicals in minutes -, having a thin full-leather shoe is quite a breath of fresh air.
Also right now virtually unique.

I can not speak for Summer temperatures, but at least for now with around 5°C outside and around 18°C in the office, its nice.

So far for the good.

Here is the bad.

Using the measuring sheet, my right foot was just barely over the 11U mark.
The left foot was halfway between 11U and 12U.

So I've ordered 12U Wide.

Turns out, the shoes are precisely as long as the measuring sheet MINUS the seam connecting upper and sole.

With every step, the tip of the toes of my right foot scrape against the seam. fairly uncomfortable.

The toes of my left foot however, which was halfway between 11U and 12U, the tip of the toes constantly press against the seam. really uncomfortable.

Also I would really have liked the sole to be 0,5-1,0 cm wider in the toe-box to account for the seam.

While the Bull-hide Sole itself could be considered "just wide enough", the seam takes away a total of around half a centimeter from that.

All in all:

If the Sole gets an additional 0,5 cm around the toes in length and width so one does not walk on the seam, i will happily order more of these in the future, despite the (for me in Germany) $180 price tag.
As with the pair i already have i constantly curl my toes (left more then right) to avoid the seam and that is not really comfy. (Posted on 3/4/16)

I am not a long distance runner. I workout doing weightlifting, kettlebells, MovNat and other bodyweight type exercises (think Crossfit-ish with a broader exercise catalogue). I had the original RunAmocs back in 2010 but then tried some other brands for a few years. I returned to Soft Star this year when I saw the new RunAmoc Dash. The laces offered the fit I wanted and the styling was a bit more normal so they could pass as biz casual. I bought 2 pairs with the "lite" perforated leather and trail soles. The soles are super grippy - I can climb trees, sprint through wet grass, walk trails etc. My only wish is that I could get a half size. One pair is 10 and is a little too large. The other is 9 and feels a little tight. I like a roomy toe box and the 9 feels a little tight, even though I clearly am a 9 according to the sizing guide. I've thus far worn these in temps ranging from 30 to 70 degrees. They'll be great in all weather except hard rains and deep snow. Plus I love buying from a US small business who manufactures the shoes right there. (Posted on 1/13/16)

Nice shoes but they broke Review by Jane mummy

These shoes were really beautiful. Lovely leather and the trail soles are very nice. Quite grippy and reasonable flexibility. The ground feel isn't as good as the street sole but this is what you would expect with a thicker sole that gives more protection. I am not keen on the shape of the toe box of soft star shoes as they taper at the toe which is surprising given they are supposed to be naturally shaped. The widest part of my foot is the big toe so in order to fit this there always ends up being space at the side of the toe. I would prefer them to be more foot shaped.
After I had worn them 4 times and had them under a month, the sole started peeling away from the upper on both sides at the level of the big toe joint. Soft Star offered me $15 discount on future purchases but I didn't think this was good as the shoes were expensive and hardly worn. They eventually offered me a full refund but suggested that since I have had problems with sizing before (not relevant in this case) I should buy my shoes elsewhere as I could get them repaired locally. In the UK you would expect a repair, refund or replacement if this happened but you certainly would not expect this to be accompanied by being told to buy your shoes elsewhere. All my family owns Soft Star shoes so seemed to be a disappointing and inappropriate response.

Note from Elves: Jane, we regret that we were ultimately unable to meet your needs after much investment on both sides over the past several purchases. We are a small business and strive to do our very best work both in customer service and craftsmanship, so we are also equally frustrated when things do not work out.

Prefer Original RunAmocs Review by Lal Beral
Rating
I love Soft Star shoes, so I really wanted to try the Dash RunAmocs after having worn the Originals. I also wanted to try the street sole, because my Originals have bullhide soles.

I ordered these in suede, and planned to make them "dress up" shoes. However, I wore them a few times, including on a 5-6 mile walk, to try them out.

Two comments:

One, the street soles do not breathe as well as the leather soles. Leather soles aren't practical when the ground is wet, but boy are they great overall, and they breathe terrifically, even in hot weather! With the street soles, I could feel my feet getting hot and a bit sweaty.

Second, believe the Elves when they tell you the Dashes have a snugger fit, and if you really hate shoes, go with the Originals. This is true. While the Dashes are comfortable, they are much more restrictive. I have a mild Morton's Neuroma in my left foot, and after the long walk in the Dashes, it was aggravated. (Not so in Originals.)

In conclusion, I'm happy I tried the Dashes, and I will wear them with my "dress up" outfit as needed, but personally, I don't prefer them as daily shoes, because they are a little snug and don't give my feet as much freedom as the Originals.

Almost perfect! Review by Derek R in CA

Previously I had a pair of these in black with the 5mm sole for the office, but I got these with the Bull Hide sole for running. The custom color scheme looks great and the quality of the leather, as always, is very high. They take a few hours of wearing them to break in proper, but the result is worth the patience. Almost perfect except for the more noticeable seams in the interior of the shoe with the hide sole. They seams settle in and are now not too noticeable for walking and general use, tho I still use a light sock when using them for running. As a former barefoot runner (glass shards and slivers put an end to that) I think these are the best thing next to barefoot, even better than my Xero sandals. Well done, Elves! (Posted on 9/17/15)
High quality, super comfortable Review by Mike Ef

Firstly I'll say, make sure you use their foot sizing print out to determine what size you need. I went by the chart and originally ended up with a shoe that was a size too big. I wear 11.5 regular shoes, and according to the chart I needed a size 12 from Soft Star...but that turned out to be too big. Using their foot sizing print out, I realized I actually need an 11 from them, which ended up fitting perfectly. They fit almost 100% comfortable from the start, but after a few days of wearing them all day at work and elsewhere, they really settled in and feel perfect. You can tell right away that these shoes are a quality build. The leather looks and feels amazing. I got the design-your-own runamocs, with a bullhide sole. One thing I will say for people coming from vibrams (like myself), is that if you're used to the thinness of the thinnest vibram sole (the 2 mm evo's), this sole feels just a little bit thicker. You still have excellent ground feel, but there is a slight difference. All in all I would 100% recommend the RunAmocs, and basically wear these shoes exclusively now. We'll see how the construction holds up over time. So far it's been about 1.5 months and I haven't noticed any deterioration. Oh and one other thing worth mentioning - the foot does NOT get sweaty and smelly in these shoes! They have excellent breathability. I work 9 hour days 4 days a week and wear these shoes all day every day with no socks, and have never had any discomfort whatsoever. (Posted on 8/12/15)

Great. Not perfect. But then, neither am I. Review by Ryan B

I will preface this by saying that I came to these shoes as a last resort. I have high arches, wide feet, and most cursedly, I have wide midfeet. Shoe manufacturers don't make shoes for these feet. So I tried pretty much every other minimalist shoe out there before landing here.

I waited to try these because I thought they looked super goofy in the photos. What I didn't realize is that they take a lot of their shape from your foot, and they look a lot better on a foot than off. I find their appearance perfectly acceptable. Even so, these look way different than "normal" shoes. They attract a lot of attention. It's mostly positive attention (people comment on how comfortable they look), but know that you'll have to be willing to own the fact that you walk around in goofy elf shoes.

I wear mine to work and to church, which are environments where dress shoes are expected. These...aren't dress shoes, so much. Funny thing, though: I act like they are, and people go along with it. It's great.

For my first pair, I opted for the trail sole. This was a mistake. It's a relatively stiff sole, and it doesn't mix well with the extremely soft, supple, flexible upper. When I take a step, it feels like the upper stretches away from the sole before the sole bends. This is alleviated somewhat as the shoe breaks in, but they are awkward to walk in at first.

I also bought the wrong size. I'm used to buying big shoes because it gives me more volume and width to work with. That means a little extra length, which in traditional shoes is no big deal, since the shoe is doing all the work anyway. The Dash is different. The extra amount of shoe at the front has a tendency to catch as I walk, and just generally gets in the way.

Lesson learned. I ordered my second pair with the bullhide leather sole and a half size smaller (they will do half sizes if you ask nicely). And man...what a shoe! The leather sole is so flexible that I almost feel barefoot, and breathes enough that my feet stay comfortable all day, even in summer heat.

Traction hasn't been an issue. The only surface they struggle with is the occasional slick retail floor. Even then, it's not like you'll slip and fall. It's just annoying that your feet slide a bit with every step you take. Durability hasn't been an issue either. It's been six months of near-daily wear, and they're still in fantastic shape.

Its one issue is that it doesn't do rain. It can handle a little moisture without issue, so if you're walking from your car to your house and the cement is damp, you should be fine. You'll find in these cases that the footprints it leaves look almost exactly like those your bare foot would leave, which is pretty cool. But if you get caught in a rainstorm with that sole, you're better off removing your shoes entirely. I have done this, more than once.

(I keep a pair of flip flops at work that I can wear home if it's raining in the afternoon, which it often does in Colorado.)

Are they wide enough? Almost. They're so close. Close enough to wear. My gripes are twofold. First, even in the wide width, the midfoot does not entirely accommodate my foot's egregious width. I often feel like I'm walking on the seam between the sole and the upper, because I am. What enables me to wear these at all is the all-leather construction. I don't really notice the seam most of the time, and since the entire shoe molds itself to the shape of my foot, it mostly works.

My second gripe is with the toe box. It tapers to a point above the second toe. I can feel it pushing my big toe inward, and I don't like that. I suppose that people without frankenstein feet wouldn't have this problem, because I think there is meant to be a little extra shoe on the inside edge of the toe box. The taper is meant to be an illusion. Nope, sorry, fat feet over here. I fill out the whole shoe.

I really wish they hadn't done this, especially since I can't see any reason for it. Maybe it's meant to make them look more like regular shoes. You know, the ones with the stupid pointy toe boxes. I got into minimalist shoes to escape that idiotic convention. And, look, these shoes are going to stand out from the crowd no matter how pointy you make the toes, so you may as well make them more foot-like and lose the taper.

I've complained a lot in this review, so you might conclude that I dislike these shoes. On the contrary, I criticize because I care. These shoes are so utterly, fantastically comfortable that I don't want to wear anything else ever again. I'm thinking about ordering a third pair. I can't say they're perfect for me, because they're not. But they at least *work*, which is more than I can say for every other closed-toed minimalist shoe in existence. For that, the elves have my gratitude and continued patronage. (Posted on 8/2/15)

For the past four years, the RunAmoc Dash has been my favorite pair of shoes. I wear my Dashes almost every day, year-round, and my favorite sole is the 2mm. At work, my brown or black Dashes complement my business casual attire, fitting in perfectly but maintaining the characteristics of a healthy shoe: zero-drop, no arch support, wide toe box, breathable, natural leather (no formaldehyde).

I’ve worn my Dashes in quite a wide variety of situations. For example:
I run about 1,000 miles per year on my local trail system. Often-times I work for a few hours at my stand-up desk and then put on shorts for a quick trail run and return to work again without needing to change shoes. For some reason the Dash rarely gets stinky like other shoes.
I’ve worn them to multiple races, including two 50k races
They’re my favorite shoes for dancing at music venues
I used to do landscaping and masonry work in an old pair, doing quite a lot of strenuous things that one would not normally do in such thin shoes.

Besides all the great features of the Dash, I also enjoy supporting Soft Star’s environmentally-conscious business practices and progressive stance toward wellness. (Posted on 5/1/15)
love my custom run amocs Review by ba
Rating
I got the RunAmoc custom Dash and I am in love. I got black leather front and heel with white holed side panels and the reflective tags. I am right on the line of 11 and 12 and i went with the 11 for a tighter fit. The shoe is like a second skin, providing protection but offering all the feedback I could want. I feel heat through the leather sole, which was an unexpected reconnect to the ambient environment that I expect when barefoot, but not when wearing shoes. I love these shoes! (Posted on 4/15/15)
Nice but odd shape Review by Janeh
Rating
The shoes are very nice and the leather is soft and good quality. The sole (2mm street) is not as flexible as some minimal shoes but it is quite thin although there is plenty of protection. The shape is disappointing as the longest part is not where the big toe is. I found the leather very tight over my feet at first although they did stretch. I have some moccasins for my son with nice square toes so it is a shame the adult shoes are not more foot shaped. (Posted on 4/10/15)
Bullhide Soles - comment on traction Review by Matej
Rating
Hello!
These are definitely the best shoes I have ever had. I took the wide sole option - now my fingers can finally enjoy the freedom inside the shoe, and I don't need to wear Five Fingers anymore. And the shoes are so comfortable that I rejoice with every step. I also use them for running and parkour, and I must say they are very durable.
Anyway, I am writing this mainly to say that I took these babies to Alps, above 2000m where everything was filled with snow and ice. I had better traction than my friend who wore real winter boots with high quality Vibram rubber. I guess this is because the softness of the sole grips ice more than firm rubber. The only "less traction" issues I've had, were on wet rock tiles inside the city I live in, and it only happens on tiles made of a specific material. My feet also never got cold inside these shoes, and I felt very comfortable, even while walking through wet snow slush. I won't say that they are waterproof, but I didn't expect them to be anyhow. While walking in the rain the bottoms the shoes get wet first, but that's mostly it. I guess if you use the rubber sole option that will happen less.
I will definitely be making a YouTube review of these shoes.
Thanks, Soft Star! (Posted on 3/5/15)
With leather sole - awesome for indoor everything Review by Debbie
Rating
I have had my leather-soled RunAmoc's for 2 years or so. In general I prefer to be barefoot whenever possible. I wanted these shoes originally for wearing to fitness classes where you have to wear shoes (i.e., barefoot not allowed), and they are great for that. I also love them as indoor shoes all the time. I use my treadmill a lot (several hours a day as I use my walking desk), and I was doing it barefoot, but the RunAmoc's make it easier to walk much longer. Now I just leave them on all day and only switch to other shoes if I will be going outside. I'm planning to order another pair with the 2mm Vibram sole for outdoor use. (Posted on 2/5/15)
My 3 Season Option with Personality Review by Lando B
Rating
I wear minimalist sandals all summer. No socks, bare feet in the air, nothing but a thin piece of rubber between my skin and the ground. I forget how to wear closed shoes by the end of the summer. It use to be the most annoying time of year for me, getting use to shoving my wide feet in a pair of over built shoes that just made my feet feel bound and sweaty. In that light, it’s funny that it took me this long to find Soft Star and their brilliant products.

The Dash has become my three-season shoe: Fall, Winter and Spring until I transition back out of closed shoes. But I no longer dread it. The Dash are built just right to give everything a minimalist shoe should provide in my opinion. Soft leathers that stretches with your foot’s unique shape, minimal panels, thin solid soles, light weight, and one more key factor that many shoe makers forget, Fun. With the design function, you can make your Dash as serious or silly as you want. Designed to give you everything you need and no more with the addition of an option to fit your personality as well. That seems like a well-rounded shoe to me.

When I wear the Dash I never feel like my shoes are getting in my way or trying to give my foot something it doesn’t need. Don’t get me wrong; it’s not for everyone. The Dash seem to me to be best for someone with stronger feet who’s tried out the minimalist approach and gotten comfortable with it. As for me, I donated all my other three-season shoes. Nothing else could do for me what the Dash do. I’ll miss them in the summer when I switch back to sandals but look forward to them again come the fall.

Oh boy Review by James

A long time ago I had some moccasins called, I think, kaibabs I had found in a street market in New Mexico. They were soled with thick, soft leather and were the most comfortable shoes I ever wore. I wore them constantly--at school, playing sandlot baseball and football, etc.--until they were so completely worn out and ugly my mom would tackle me and insist I removed them before appearing in public. For the last fifty years I have unsuccessfully searched for similar footwear.

When I discovered Soft Star Shoes had similar shoes, with the oh-so-important thick, soft leather soles I ordered a pair that day. Waiting for them to arrive made me feel like a kid with Christmas on the morrow. As soon as the package arrived I put them on and went for a 2-mile walk around a nearby park and I was in heaven. Holy moly they are comfortable.

As soon as I hit the "go" button on this review I will order a third pair, which will join the second pair on the shelf of my closet. At my current age and with judicious care, I figure the three pair of bull leather-soled shoes will last the rest of my life.

If gray leather was available for this DYO Adult Dash RunAmoc I would consider purchasing a fourth pair. (Posted on 12/7/14)
beware of leather soling. Review by Dustin
Rating
I recently purchased a pair of returned (?) DYO's that someone else designed (for a reduced price). They are lovely.

I am writing this review, however, because said shoes came with the "tough leather sole." This sole is extremely light and comfortable; I'd also say it's anything but tough.

I took these shoes on a fairly easy hike, on a fairly smooth trail -- about 4 miles. Afterwards, the sole looked pretty bad. Layers of the leather are peeling, and there are a few chips in the sole. This is disappointing for a 1 day old pair of shoes that I paid over $100 for!

For comparison, I have 2 other pair of soft stars with vibram soles that look barely worn even though I wear them almost every day. I wear a pair with a 2 mm street sole that, after 1 year of daily use, looks brand new still. Truly, there's barely any wear on the sole, and I wear them for hiking, exercise, work, you name it.

I would NOT recommend the leather sole except for very light use/inside wear only. The vibram sole makes these shoes a value, and the leather one makes them extremely expensive.

I think soft star should issue a warning besides the part about slickness: the leather sole is far, far less durable. (Posted on 11/18/14)

Most Comfortable Closed Shoe Review by Beth
Rating
Every fall I set out to find a closed shoe that will fit my wide forefoot. It seems that there are fewer options for those of us outside the M width each season. I end up with overly cushioned or motion control shoes like clogs that aggravate my foot pain. This year I decided to find something minimal that I could wear with a metatarsal pad.

I found Correct Toes first, then Soft Star Shoes through the NW Foot and Ankle website. How fortunate! I now have two pairs of Soft Stars, including a pair chocolate/blue/sage Dashes in wide width. I am deciding now on a third pair, so I have enough Soft Stars in my shoe collection to wear all the time.

I am able to wear my Correct Toes in these shoes and don't even need the metatarsal pad. For the first time in years, I am able to wear a lace-up shoe without pain on the top of my foot. The soft leather tongue without padding along with the extra width gives my foot a break from the straps of all of my other shoes.

Thank you elves!

Extremely comfortable Review by Ruby

I ordered these with buck hide soles for wearing to/at work and around town in a hot and dry climate. I wear between an 8.5 and 9 regular width in women's shoes, and ordered a nine in these. They seemed like they might be a smidge big at first, but once laced, they were nearly dead on. It doesn't even feel like you are wearing shoes. Nothing pinches or rubs. I'll be back in the next few months to order another set to complement black pants, and a more fun colored trail sole pair for running! You can design a pair that looks like saddle shoes, and the Lite perforated leather is a great alternative for those of us needing some sun protection. (Posted on 4/21/14)
Best shoes I've ever owned Review by Emily
Rating
I can't say enough how much I love these shoes. They are by far my favorite everyday shoe, and the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. I have them with the 2mm sole, which I think is a better minimalist experience than any other I've tried, partially because other minimalist shoes (fivefingers included) tend to force the bottom of your foot into a certain shape rather than letting it hit the ground naturally. I think these let my feet move and land much more naturally than the fivefingers.

I love being able to pick out the color combination (mine are a green on green suede combo) -- they are quirky but stylish, and mine get complimented all the time! I ended up getting these in a narrow size, which is perfect for me.

I just bought these in two more color combos (including a 5mm sole with smooth leather that I'm hoping will be a little more of an all-season shoe). (Posted on 2/7/14)
Great shoes Review by Thomas IJ

I have these shoes with leather sole and wear them often to the office but also outdoors. If it is dry they are very comfortable but if it is wet the sole soaks with water and it takes quite a long time until they are dry again.

But I love them anyway. (Posted on 1/16/14)

Unsure about your size? Our printable guide will help you find the best fit for your feet! Just click the button below to print the guide and follow the instructions on the page (if you don't have access to a printer then scroll down for another option).

Note: before you print the guide, make sure your printer settings will not shrink or scale the page. Uncheck any boxes labeled "Fit to Printable Area" and/or set scaling options to "None."

No Printer? No Problem!

You can still measure feet using the method below (also shown in our sizing videos). You can then scroll down and see where your measurements fall on our sizing charts to find the recommended shoe size. All you need is a book, a tape measure and a wall.

Note: we no longer recommend tracing your feet because it usually gives a larger measurement than the method described below. Our sizing charts work in accordance with the following method.

To measure your feet:

  1. 1. Remove shoes and socks and place the bare foot so that the heel is barely touching a wall.
  2. 2. Place a book in on the floor, parallel to the wall, so that it is barely touching the front of the longest toe.
  3. 3. Step away carefully and measure the distance from the book to the wall.
  4. 4. Scroll down and look for this measurement on the sizing charts below to find the recommended shoe size.

Once you find your length measurement, you can use table below to best find your corresponding size.

Wide/Narrow: Trouble deciding your width? Our best recommendation is to order a wide or narrow only if you have found you need those custom widths in other brands for your feet to be comfortable. If you have never found you needed wide or narrow shoes before then we suggest sticking with our regular width.

Style notes:

If you find yourself between two shoe sizes, we recommend ordering the larger size. This is especially true of our adult Phoenix Boots, Portlanders and Rogue casual shoes, which run a bit small.

Whether you need it for the trail, street, studio or workplace, we have the perfect RunAmoc for you!

Look and Feel Soft and cozy. Matte appearance. Smooth and glossy. Underside is suede. Smooth, thin and light.
Pros & Cons

Pros: A favorite for its stylish look and extremely cozy feel.

Cons: Not water resistant, unless treated with a suede protector leathercare. Requires more effort to clean (we recommend a suede brush).

Pros: Naturally water resistant and easy to clean. Keeps feet warm and protected in cold, wet weather.

Cons: May cause feet to feel warm in hot climates, depending on your tolerance for heat/cold (still more breathable than most rubber or faux-leather shoes).

Pros: Lightweight, keeps feet cool and ventilated. A favorite for running in warm weather. Easy to clean.

Cons: Not water resistant... it has holes!

Use

Our suede leather is a popular choice for casual everyday shoes that look and feel fantastic! Many people use it for athletic shoes as well, though it does require extra effort to keep dry and clean.

Smooth leather provides the most protection from the elements. A popular choice for protecting feet from cold or wet weather. Also gives a classy look for dressy or formal occasions.

While naturally somewhat water resistant, smooth leather can be made more waterproof with full grain leathercare.

Great for athletes wanting to keep feet ventilated and cool. This naturally lightweight material minimizes shoe weight to maximize performance. Although it is not water resistant, the thin, airy material dries quickly and is easy to clean.

RUNAMOC HISTORY:

In the fall of 2009, we noticed a sharp increase in calls from customers requesting modifications to our existing line of minimalist moccasins. We were surprised to learn that people weren't only wearing them around the house, but to run trails, marathons and even ultramarathons. With interest increasing in barefoot running, we began development of a barefoot running moccasin designed by and for runners.

Softstar called on our online community of fans to solicit input on ideal features to design a new shoe specifically for runners that was light, ventilated and featured super thin and flexible running soles. Our fantastic customers submitted ideas, provided feedback on prototypes and ultimately voted on the name RunAmoc. Since the very successful launch of the Original RunAmoc, we have added the Dash and the Moc3 to the line. We hope you find these unique running shoes to be a benefit to your training routine and a treat for your feet!

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT TRANSITIONING TO MINIMAL RUNNING SHOES:

Making the switch from traditional shoes to minimal shoes or barefoot running/walking should be done gradually with research and advice from healthcare professionals to prevent injury. It is not recommended to begin heavy running in minimalist/barefoot shoes until your feet have adapted properly. You will probably be tempted to just take off since they are FUN and you feel like a kid in them, but you may end up injuring yourself if you plunge into full speed without proper conditioning. You may want to read this article that includes tips and training plans for transitioning safely:
