Keeping baby shoes ON!
Kahlil has posed quite a challenge. I meet new people and they ask what I do. I tell them I make baby shoes they smile and glance at Kahlil's feet. At this point their eyebrows raise since they can't help but notice my son is barefoot. Of course there is nothing wrong with being barefoot - in fact barefoot like designs is a central goal of Soft Star Shoes. But it's a little embarrassing when it's cold and rainy and little chilly toes are staring at you from below his pants.
This seems to be a phase in Kahlil's development. There was a time when his sandals and moccasins would stay. But of late shoes and mocs are repelled from his feet like bullets out of a gun.
So the search was on for a pair of baby shoes or baby moccasins that stay put! We started playing with new designs to see if there is a better way to keep footwear on little feet. Unfortunately Kahlil would just laugh at all our attempts as the new design would go shooting across the room. It seemed hopeless.
Then there was a bright idea from a fellow Elf - how about the Cubbie. I hadn't tried those on him in months. I ASSUMED the laces would be irresistible for his little fingers. But I was getting desperate and decided to give them a try. WOW! He didn't instantly pull them off! So we seem to have found a shoe that will keep his toes warm... at least until he starts to untie them. And I don't have to look away embarrassed when people ask what I do for a living. Life is good.
