Softstar Celebrates 35 Years... Time for an Anniversary SALE!
This summer is a big milestone for us because it marks the 35th anniversary of Softstar Shoes! It's hard to believe it, but way back in July of 1985, our founder Tim Oliver and his wife Jeanie learned to sew soft leather shoes for their daughter, Corina. Shortly thereafter, they played around with the idea of selling their shoes at an art festival... and the rest is history.
Back in those days, the happy couple made their four styles of children's shoes by hand in an old school bus. We've come a long way since then, now occupying a 12,000 square foot workshop, employing over 30 talented elves and making dozens of different shoe styles every day. Yet some things never change: every one of our shoes is still made by hand, we still use high quality materials and eco-friendly processes and Tim can still be found every morning stitching together a shiny new pair of moccasins.
Of course, this landmark anniversary is a call for celebration. We had a grand plan to take our entire staff on a whitewater rafting trip down Oregon's beautiful Rogue River this month, but then COVID-19 came along and changed everything. Our rafting trip will be postponed until at least next summer, but we still want to celebrate with YOU! After all, it has always been our devoted fans who kept us going all these years.

Martin has collaborated with several health care professionals to collect and share peer-reviewed studies that show the benefits of minimalist footwear. In his personal life, Martin loves living in the Pacific Northwest because it allows him to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities year-round, including hiking, cycling, rock climbing, surfing and snowboarding.
