Nikwax Waterproofing Wax for Leather™ is a safe product to use on breathable waterproof footwear. It provides instant Durable Water Repellency (DWR), maintains breathability and replenishes tanning agents in leather. It is non-flammable, contains no harmful solvents and is free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and fluorocarbons. Nikwax Waterproofing Wax for Leather™ has been specifically designed and optimized for smooth leather footwear. The WaterBased formulation is directed to leaks, can be used on wet or dry leather and will not over-soften. Please note: this leather waterproofing wax is not returnable.

Nikwax takes great care to minimize the effect of Nikwax products on the environment and on you, the consumer. Nikwax waterproofing products are WaterBased, non-aerosol, non-flammable, non-hazardous and environmentally friendly. They contain no harmful solvents or volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and are completely free of fluorocarbons (which have been shown to be persistent in the environment and have been associated with serious health issues).

How to Apply:

  • Shake well before use.
  • Rub the wax thoroughly into wet or dry clean leather, using either the sponge applicator or your fingers, paying special attention to seams.
  • Remove any excess with a cloth and buff to a shine.

Note: Leather in light colors may darken after treatment. Test on a hidden area first.

    I followed the directions and the "wax" came out like watery milk. I shook and shook the bottle to try and mix it better to no avail. I'll stick to Otter Wax.

    Note from the Elves: Hi Franny - thanks for taking time to review. The Nikwax waterproofing product is not an oil or wax based product and does apply as a liquid. It coats the leather fibres with a network of elastic TX.10i water-repellent molecules which bond to anything that is not water-repellent, but leave the spaces between fibres open and breathable - which is the main advantage of this product. Wax based products also work great for water repellancy if you prefer them, but can result in less breathability over time as the wax/oil can block the natural pores. Both wax or Nikwax products do need to be reapplied every month or so depending on your use.

    Very easy to apply and works beautifully! My son stepped in a deep puddle wearing his ramblers and his feet/socks were dry. I applied when the shoes were new and it adds an immediate flexibility.
