    Glad to have it

This waterproofing spray left some "water staining" type of marks on my suede sawyers near the seams after treatment. I don't mind, because I'd rather have my shoes protected from rain and not have to worry about them when I'm out (or worse yet, leave them at home).
  2. great product but overpriced

    Rating

I love this product for soft leather shoes - it really waterproofs them while causing minimal change to the leather. Last winter I applied some to a pair of nubuck shoes, then accidentally stepped in a creek a couple of days later, and was pleasantly surprised that no water seeped through. It does change the texture of the leather on the Sawyers ever so slightly, but not nearly as much as an oil-based leather conditioner would, and it's barely noticeable after a couple of wears. My one complaint is that the price here is significantly marked up. (Compared to $12 on the Nikwax website.) I went ahead and ordered it anyway since I was already buying some shoes, and figured it would be one less impact on the environment to have all of the items sent together from one store. But not sure why Soft Star charges so much.

Note from the Elves: Thank you Skye for your review - so glad you love this product as much as us! You are correct Nikwax offers this product for less on their site but the price that does not include their shipping fee. When you look at whole cost, Softstar is very competitive on pricing. Most of our customers order this product in single orders without other items. Thank you for considering all your options and consolidating shipments!

Customer Questions

Yes, the Nikwax suede protector will also protect suede soles from stains to some degree, but be aware that since receive so much wear and tear it likely won't protect from ALL stains. It may also need to be reapplied frequently since walking can "scuff" if off.
