Congressional Seal of Approval

Planning a visit to Washington, D.C. in the future? Newly open is the Capitol Visitors Center - an underground facility located under the east front end of the plaza which provides a "welcoming and educational environment for visitors to learn about the unique characteristics of the House and the Senate as well as the history of the U.S. Capitol. " Then center took over seven years to build and covers the area of five football fields. The visitor center is free and open to the public to the tune of 20,000 visitors per day.

Why does Soft Star Shoes know so much about the new visitor's center? Earlier this year we were contacted by the gift store within the visitor center explaining that they were looking for gift items that were 100% made in the U.S.A.. As you know, Soft Star Shoes fits the 100% made in U.S.A. bill. Well, it was a large order for the elves who worked on it most of July. (Elves usually enjoy their leisurely Oregon summers.) When it came time to send the shipment, we had a minor heart-stoppage moment when we were told Congress had to approve all items before opening day! We had to wait for "Congressional Approval" first.... seriously. Luckily Congress quickly approved the shoes - our boxes shipped - and the gift store was happily stocked in red, white and blue for opening day last week.

That is just SO awesome! Congrats on your "Congressional Seal of Approval"!! How very (surprisingly) cool of the Visitor's Center to want to stock up with true homemade goods. :)
  2. Wow! That's TOTALLY cool!!! A big congrats on that. Does one have to go to the gift store in person to get those, or can they order from them (or you)?
  3. The styles picked by the Capitol Center can only be purchased there. If you are in DC for the inauguration, be sure to pick up a pair!
  4. These are sweet shoes! They make me want to sing "Oh, say can you see?". I want a pair!!! Guess I'll have to find a way to D.C.
  5. We'll be there by May...maybe they'll have a pair or two left for us when we arrive. Any chance of these being offered direct?
  6. I think they're wonderful! I'm going to print it out and send it in to the Ushers in our Parliament and see if we cant get something going for our Irish craftspeople who have been struggling too?!Pity our national flag is so boring! (easier to stitch though!).Well, now, with congress-approval & your esteemed former presidential purchase approval does that not do SOMETHING for handmade????best wishes from DublinCath
