One of Softstar's core values is to walk lightly on the earth, and that means reducing our waste as much as possible. We're happy to offer crafters our leather scraps that are too small or too thin for our shoes.

All of our leather scraps are tanned without the use of formaldehyde and colored with non-toxic food grade dye. We use high quality leather and all of our smooth full grain leather comes from premium top grain hides.

Scraps vary in size and contain a random mix of all the leather we use in our shop, which may include full grain, suede and shiny. Bags of scraps include a combination of larger and smaller pieces, with smaller pieces measuring a at least a couple inches in length and width. See the images in the gallery above for size examples.

Sorry, but we cannot guarantee specific colors, styles or sizes of scraps. We do our best to give a large variety in every bag and bundle. Please note: this product is not returnable.

    I know this says scraps, but I didn’t fully realize how scrappy it would be. Some of the pieces I’m not even sure what they could be used for because they are so tiny. However, there were a couple of larger pieces as well as enough smallish pieces in the same leather to make a couple of baby soft sole shoes and a pair for myself. (Admittedly, I have child sized feet. :) ) it was worth it for my purposes.

    Love these scraps. I use them for designing shoes for my child and making straps for bags....so useful and such a great assortment of different weighted leathers, different textures, shades and variations! So thankful they offer their refuse so others may benefit!

    Rich hues, soft leather...my 11 year old is THRILLED with using these to make things on the rivet press he built! The possibilities seem endless and the material you hand chose is an inspiring jumping off point at which to start any lovely creation or gift!

    Ive been letting my scraps rest for the last 6 months. Also grand plans didn't quite work out as i don't have supplies like a needle that is strong enough to get thru the leather or even a hole pinch. But despite this, i really like looking at them. Am thinking i might frqme a coupke of my faves like the zebra suede! That should be easy enough even for me...Wish theyhad seperate bags where you could choise just suede or just leather or just LITE leather BUT i cant see why that would be a royal pain for them. A whoke pound of choice though has been fun - who knows why. Kudos to you folks who made all those wonderful things in the pics you sent in like wallets and bracelets.

    I am very happy with the bag of scraps that I received. They were mostly big scraps at least 3"-4" in both dimensions. Quite a bit of shades of brown and black, but also some great brightest colors and metallic. I will definitely order again. Fast shipping also-ordered Sunday received Thursday.

    I got my order of scrap leather in the post a few weeks ago and have made several cuff bracelets, and a few thimbles with my leather scraps! A wonderful assortment of top grade supper soft and colorful leather! Very excited to have found soft star! I cant wait to place an order for some of those cute Marry Jane style shoes in metallic silver!!!
