Elves Save Puppies! Softstar Volunteers for SafeHaven Humane Society

Elf Hava's newly rescued puppy, Gus, on his first visit to our workshop. He's a squirmy little guy.

At Soft Star, it has always been a priority for us to give back to the community that treats us so spectacularly. We decided we were due for another volunteer project, so earlier this week we closed our shop for half a day and took a field trip to our local humane society's new thrift store.

The SafeHaven Humane Society, committed to finding loving homes for animals entrusted in their care, just opened a new thrift store to raise funds to support their cause. The property is in need of much work, so SafeHaven put out a call to volunteers to help get it up and running. We're all suckers for cute pups and kitties around here (many of our elves have rescued pets from the shelter), so how could we resist?

A whole team of elves loaded into the carpool vans and took off for the store's new location. We spent the morning weeding, shoveling and clearing debris from the property. The weather was fortunately cooperative, and a few hours and aching backs later we were able to look back and appreciate our beautification efforts.

Here are some photos of our trip:

Unfortunately, there were no cute puppies on site, but Elf Hava promises to bring Gus back to the shop for another visit soon.

Looking back at saved e-mails,to forward to family in England about your generous and amazing help to the Albany Carousel ,in moving the animals. I noticed the other postings and wish to extend hearty thanks and congratulations for all the work done at SafeHaven Humane Society. An extraordinary group of employees (sorry Elves) work at Soft Star Shoes. At 83years I am not computer savvy,so not sure what to tick or not tick when it comes to the question below,so to be safe,I ticked that I am no robot.
Very Best wishes to everyone for a Healthy and Safe Year.
