Soft Star Shoes for Mari's Place
Earlier this year, Soft Star Shoes donated a supply of new shoes to students at Mari's Place in central Corvallis, and Elf Sarah recently had the privilege of visiting their open house.
Mari's Place is a nature-based child care center that uses an emergent curriculum in a warm, inviting classroom setting and natural outside play area. The center is a part of Community Outreach Inc and offers curriculum designed to meet the unique needs of low income and homeless families. Meals and snacks are organic and homemade and play is based on seasonal celebrations, yoga and nature walks.
Sarah was excited to see our donated Soft Star Shoes sitting in cubbies, waiting for new students to arrive.
For more information on Mari’s Place, we invite you to check out their Facebook page.
Martin is a lifelong runner who began wearing minimalist shoes over 10 years ago when he found they alleviated his chronic foot pain, which eventually disappeared completely. He further studied proper running form through a series of workshops taught by Correct Toes inventor, Dr. Ray McClanahan DPM. Martin has collaborated with several health care professionals to collect and share peer-reviewed studies that show the benefits of minimalist footwear. In his personal life, Martin loves living in the Pacific Northwest because it allows him to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities year-round, including hiking, cycling, rock climbing, surfing and snowboarding.
