22-Year-Old Leather Moccasins Still Looking Good!
Susan with her beloved Roo moccasins
We received a pleasant surprise from a local customer this week.
A woman walked into our workshop looking for a new pair of moccasins because the stitching on her previous pair finally gave out and left a hole by the big toe. When Soft Star co-owner Larkin greeted her in our showroom and offered to help her find a new pair, the woman replied, "It will be 22 years before I come back here again, because that's how long I've had the last pair."
It turns out that Susan, visiting from Chicago, bought her last pair of suede Roo moccasins in 1992 and has worn them regularly ever since! They've been her go-to indoor shoes for over two decades and they are still looked great. More good news: the stitching damage was minor and one of our seamstresses was able to repair it on the spot!
Susan spoke with Tim, Soft Star's founder, while she was waiting for her repair and they reminisced about the old Soft Star workshop where she originally bought the moccasins (located a few blocks away from our current location). She remembered quite a bit about that old workshop and what Soft Star looked like back in the day. We had a lot less elves back then!
Here's a close-up of Susan's well-loved moccasins. We hope they last her another 22 years!

BTW, I bought mocs from the Taos Moccasin Co. in 1997. I have had them resoled twice, and they are still going strong. Handmade shoes are the best!
