Introducing the Vintage Tie Collection, designed in collaboration with the barefoot queen herself, Anya from Anya's Reviews! We worked with Anya to take our Ballerine and Primal Merry Jane styles and add a timeless vintage twist. Both designs feature a dainty lace closure that sits at the top of your foot. Available in Black, Macadamia, and Nutmeg; the perfect neutral trio to help spice up any wardrobe!

We love Anya's sense of style! When we reached out regarding a collaboration, Anya shared her ideas for a classic, timeless style that dates back to the 1920s with dainty leather ties over the foot. This retro style gained prominence in the roaring twenties with the emergence of shorter dress hems which gave footwear choices more of a spotlight. Oxfords were replaced with t-straps and open uppers to expose more of the foot and ankle, reflective of the shift in cultural trends and voting freedom for women. Our team got to work to bring this option to life! We are excited to have two options to satisfy different types of feet and fit preferences using both our standard sole shape (Ballerine) and Primal sole shape (Primal Merry Jane).

Meet Anya, the barefoot shoe queen who knows how much foot pain can affect your quality of life. Anya’s journey with natural footwear began after her chronic foot issues reached a breaking point. Her orthotics and stiff, ultra-cushioned shoes were acting as a band aid rather than solving the root issues, so she decided to try strengthening her feet and wearing shoes that didn't squish or deform them. Now she is on a mission to change the shoe status quo that beauty is pain and prove that you can wear comfortable, healthy shoes without sacrificing your personal style.

Anna joined the Softstar team in 2022 approximately a year after graduating from Oregon State University with a dual degree in Marketing and Management. She grew up on a local, rural farm and her passions include exploring the Oregon outdoors, traveling, sports, and playing instruments.
