Staying Strong Through Difficult Times

Staying Strong Through Difficult Times

It seems impossible to turn on a TV or log onto social media these days without being bombarded with with negative news. It feels like every day we are confronted with more reasons to fear for our health, our safety and our financial well-being.

In these difficult times, fear can take its toll and wear us down. It can also cause anger, panic or leave us feeling helpless, and that's scary in itself. If you live with children then you know it can be difficult to help them understand what they are seeing and hearing, and even more challenging to help them keep a positive outlook.

That's why we thought it might be helpful to take a moment and reflect on our strengths rather than our fears.

What Helps You Feel Strong?

Softstar's motto is Strong from the Ground Up. While we often use this phrase to describe healthy feet providing a strong foundation for a healthy body, we chose it because it also encompasses a broader goal for whole body wellness. We are often reminded that every decision made in our workshop should benefit our community in mind, body and soul.

We want to take this opportunity to reach out to our community and remind each other that we can be strong and persevere through difficult times. It can be easy to forget our past victories when the gets tough, but we think it's important to remember how we've learned to overcome challenges in the past. We also want to share the lessons we've learned to help each other stay strong for the future.

    Dear Elves,
    Thank you! This was beautiful.
And full of things to keep us occupied and busy during these times.
I’m confident we’ll get through this– stronger than ever.
My daughter (who is college age) reminded me of Mr. Roger’s saying, “During
scary times, look around for the helpers.”
We’re choosing to focus on them:
The woman who was concerned about kids not getting meals from schools
(which are closed), so she packs individual lunches, puts them in bags on
her porch, and just tells people to come and get them if they need them.
The man who owns two small restaurants, but can’t serve customers inside.
He goes in every day to make huge amounts of soup and says he’ll meet you
at the curb with a bowl of hot soup to go– for whatever you can pay for
it– or nothing at all if you can’t afford it.
The man who owns a commercial cleaning business, and will go to any county
park/playground and clean/disinfect it for free if asked– so kids will
    have a place to play.
    These are our heroes.
These are the people who are leading by example.
We’ll follow them and come out strong.
