Running Green: Soft Star Shoes at the Portland Shamrock Run
We're very excited to announce that Soft Star will have an exhibition booth at the Portland Shamrock Run Fitness Fair this weekend! For anyone in the Portland, Oregon area, this is a great opportunity to try on our shoes and ask questions about how we make them. We'll have a full selection of moccasins and casual shoes for kids and adults, and of course plenty of RUNAMOCS! Our running guru, Elf Todd, will also be on hand to discuss his experiences with minimalist/barefoot running.
Portland's annual Shamrock Run is more than just a race—it's a full St. Patty's day celebration that includes chowder, music and beer. Now in its 35th year, the run is expecting to draw a crowd of 35,000. The Shamrock Fitness Fair is a public event that will be held on Friday and Saturday (before the Sunday race) and will feature fitness products, games, contests, a Leprechaun Lane for kids and hourly entertainment on stage.
Be sure to wear your green!

Martin is a lifelong runner who began wearing minimalist shoes over 10 years ago when he found they alleviated his chronic foot pain, which eventually disappeared completely. He further studied proper running form through a series of workshops taught by Correct Toes inventor, Dr. Ray McClanahan DPM. Martin has collaborated with several health care professionals to collect and share peer-reviewed studies that show the benefits of minimalist footwear. In his personal life, Martin loves living in the Pacific Northwest because it allows him to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities year-round, including hiking, cycling, rock climbing, surfing and snowboarding.
