A classic Padraig Cottage wool baby slipper made for your little ones! This is a fantastic all-purpose baby bootie and toddler slipper. It opens wide to easily slip a foot in and allows you to adjust the ankle for desired snugness. A great sleep aid for toddlers who kick off sleepwear—they won't wake up cold!

These wonderful hand-dyed wool crocheted slippers are made by a family business in Canada and are Elf-approved for their beauty, functionality and eco-friendly production. Padraig slippers are an all-purpose slipper with the same great sheepskin soling concept that we use in our moccasins. Innersoles are soft, genuine sheepskin, and outersoles feature non-slip suede. You will appreciate how easily it slips on and off.

Like all wool/sheepskin products, these Padraig Cottage wool baby slippers are great for wear year round. Wool is a natural, breathable material which will keep your foot cool and dry in warm weather, warm and dry in cold weather. You can machine wash and air dry this product over and over—it gets better with use!

  • Hand crocheted from natural, hand-dyed New Zealand wool that moves and breathes with your feet.
  • Sheepskin Innersoles with non-slip suede bottoms.
  • Machine washable.
  • Upper stretches to easily slip foot in.
  • Handcrafted in Canada by Padraig Cottage.

Please note: Padraig slippers will stretch over time. If you are between two sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size (and if they stretch too much, washing will shrink them).

Customer Questions
Can I wash Padraig slippers?

Yes. Padraig slippers are machine washable, but they will likely shrink. If they do shrink, then they will stretch out again as you wear them.

Be sure to let wet slippers air dry, and do not put them in a laundry dryer.

Can I put Padraig slippers in the dryer?
No! A machine dryer will ruin the wool knit of your Padraig slippers. If your slippers become wet then let them air dry. Stuff newspaper into soaked slippers to speed up the drying process.
Do Padraig slippers stretch?

Yes. The elasticity of wool is one of its key benefits, as it will stretch to the shape of your foot for a comfortable fit. This especially handy for growing feet.

If your slippers end up feeling too loose then tossing them into a washing machine can shrink them back down. Just be sure to let them air dry.

If my shoe size overlaps two sizes of Padraig slippers, which size should I choose?
Unless you like your slippers to feel a little loose, we recommend going with the smaller size. The wool will stretch over time.
Is it normal for Padraig slipper soles to become dark, shiny and smooth after a few weeks?

Yes, this is perfectly normal. The leather soles become "polished" with wear. The soles become more water resistant when this happens.

Is it normal for my slippers to become fuzzy with wool pills?

Yes, the wool from Padraig slippers will naturally start 'pilling' after a few weeks of wear.

Unlike the annoying pills on fine knit sweaters or polyester fabric, the pills on your slippers will likely fall off on their own over time. Also, they are usually loose enough to be pulled out easily by hand if you want to keep your slippers looking clean.

I am allergic to wool. Will Padraig slippers bother me?

Yes. Padraig slippers are crocheted from 100% wool.

Can I wear Padraig slippers outside?

We do not recommend wearing Padraig slippers outside. The crocheted wool is intended for light indoor use and will wear out quickly if worn outdoors.

How long will Padraig slippers last?

in most cases, with the correct fit and a little care, Padraig slippers will hold up exceptionally well for several years.

The lifespan of your slippers can vary depending on how they are worn. For example, if you are prone to walking in a way that causes the the heels or sides of your shoes to scuff against the ground then you may experience premature wear of the crocheted wool uppers.

How do I know if I ordered the right shoe size for my child?

Finding the right size shoe for your children can be challenging, especially because you never know when an unexpected growth spurt will come along. Fortunately, we have a lot of experience helping parents find the right size for their little ones, and we've gone through it with our own kids, too.

As a general rule of thumb (literally), have your child try on the shoe and make sure the heel is pushed all the way back. We recommend having a thumb's width of space between your child's toes and the front seam of the shoe. We have found this to be a good amount of space to allow for growing room without being too big.

Following these guidelines, parents buying new shoes during back-to-school season can usually expect the size to last most, if not all of the new school year (but again, growth spurts can be unpredictable).
