Soft Star Notes:
The thin 2mm soles on Moc3 are suitable for most dirt, grass and moderate trails. For the tough-footed barefooters they are also suitable on rocky, technical trails. Most of our minimal shoe testers would suggest more protection on extremely rocky surfaces, such as the 5mm trail sole option on our Original or Dash RunAmocs.
The Moc3 is not water resistant and is not recommended for stream crossing; it gets heavier when wet and takes about an hour to dry. If you plan on fording streams, you may want to consider a lace model shoe.
The Elves love how comfortable they feel and opt to keep them on after runs as an everyday, all-purpose shoe.
Soft Star shoe sizes are unisex "U".
Note: The earlier "A" (adult) identifier has been replaced by a "U"(unisex adult). If you previously ordered a 9A, you would now order a 9U.
Please use table below to best find your corresponding size. For best results, rely on your standard US shoe size. We find this to be the best place to start for adults and generally the most reliable method.
A few style notes:
RunAmoc ORIGINALS are designed to be loose and feel "floppy." If you want a snugger fit then you may want to go down a size in the ORIGINALS.
RunAmoc DASH have a closer fit and there is no need to go down a size.
Order Phoenix boots to fit SNUG as they will stretch over time. If in doubt, go down a size and expect them to be very snug the first few weeks. This is true for any brand of genuine sheepskin boots—they are soft and giving.

HISTORY:
In the fall of 2009, we noticed a sharp increase in calls from customers requesting modifications to our existing line of glove-like moccasins. We were surprised to learn that people weren't only wearing them around the house, but to run trails, marathons and even ultra marathons. With interest increasing in barefoot running, we began development of a minimal running moccasin designed by and for runners.
Soft Star called on our online community of fans to solicit input on ideal features to design a new shoe designed specifically for runners that was lighter, ventilated and featured super-thin, flexible running soles. Customers provided feedback on prototypes, submitted ideas for names and ultimately voted on the name RunAmoc. Since the launch of the Original RunAmoc, we have also introduced the Dash and the Moc3. We hope you find these unique running shoes to be a benefit to your training routine.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT TRANSITIONING TO MINIMAL RUNNING SHOES:
Making the switch from traditional shoes to minimal shoes or barefoot running/walking should be done gradually with research and advice from healthcare professionals to prevent injury. Walking barefoot will tire your feet initially and require extra stretching and care. Running minimal/barefoot will naturally shift your stride to a lighter forefoot or mid-foot strike and will inevitably use new muscles in your feet, ankles and calves. Please do not just take off in your new minimal shoes unless you already are a minimal footwear/barefoot runner. You will probably be tempted to just take off since they are FUN and you feel like a kid in them, but you may end up injuring yourself if you plunge into full speed without prior conditioning. There is a lot of great advice in the recommended reading on how and why you should transition to a more minimal shoe. It is worth your time to do some research and find a training plan that works for you—and helps you avoid throwing out your back or blowing your calf muscle.
Although it was designed for barefoot/minimalist footwear runners, the Moc3 is so comfortable that it can cross over to everyday wear, yoga or other sports. Click on the video below for more background on the Moc3. We love it and hope you will, too!
