Color o' Crayons

A few months ago I was talking to a customer on the phone. She was asking for more description of a leather color. It is pretty hard to describe colors in a way that is meaningful since it's such a visual attribute. You really just need to SEE it. And then she had a brilliant idea... tell people what crayon color the leather matches. Wow! What a fantastic idea!

It took a while for me to get around to her suggestion, but I finally did it.

I bought a box of 96 Crayola crayons. I made a box of color on plain white paper for each crayon and labeled the box with the crayons name. I then took our leather swatches and matched, as best I could, the leather color with the colored box. Some of the leathers were hard to match or there were more than one crayon that was a close match. In those cases I listed both crayons as a match for that leather. I then created a web page that translates Soft Star leather colors to crayon colors. You can check it out HERE.

It was a fun page to create and I hope our customers find it helpful. And a BIG thank you to the customer who suggested it!
